Disney World is full of some fantastic dining experiences, and checking them out is something we do a lot of here. We are Disney Food Blog, after all.
While there are plenty of meals we will sing about from the rooftops, there are some that we just can’t recommend. We know your time and money are precious in Disney World, so here are some meals you might want to avoid to have the best experience possible.
Lengthy Sit-Down Meals
Hear us out, we love some of Disney’s signature dining options. From Morimoto Asia to Le Cellier, there are some table service restaurants that we can’t get enough of. However, they might not be the best option for you if you’re on a tight schedule!
This is particularly true when it comes to restaurants inside specific parks. Sure, if you are dedicating a whole day to Disney Springs, then spending a few hours at a meal there might be reasonable. For days that you’re in the park, however, enjoying a sit-down meal can take up a big chunk of your schedule. As expensive as park tickets are, it might make more sense to skip these types of meals so that you can get more done.
If you aren’t on a tight schedule or budget, and dining experiences are important to you, then by all means — book the reservation! There are some great options. Takumi Tei and Le Cellier are worth checking out in EPCOT, and Tiffins is a fun option in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to name a few.
If not, there are a lot of quicker options that we really love throughout the parks. Especially in EPCOT, there are tons of great options to try during any of their festivals — sometimes you can even find options from restaurants like Le Cellier at the food booths!
Puffy Pizza
Puffy pizza has a reputation in Disney World.
Many of the parks’ quick service options sell this style of pizza, and while it is great for picky eaters, it’s just not everyone’s favorite.
If you’re looking for some quality pizza around the parks, we highly recommend Via Napoli in EPCOT. We’ve even had some impressive slices at Terra Treats from time to time!
Basic Theme Park Burgers
Unfortunately, many of us here at DFB have been personally victimized by a tasteless, hockey puck of a burger in Disney World. We get it, burgers are a theme park staple — but why do so many of them have to be so mediocre?
Burgers at places like Restaurantosaurus and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe are quick and easy, but you likely won’t be blown away by the quality. Like with puffy pizza, these might be a reasonable option for you if you have some picky eaters among your group, but there are much better burger options to spend your money on.
From budget options like D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs to the fun options in Sci-Fi Drive-in Theater Restaurant, we recommend finding a better burger than the standard quick service options provide.
Buffets
Buffets can be a great option if you’ve got people in your group with big appetites. Many of Disney’s buffets are also character dining options, so they can be a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck.
But they are also quite expensive and can take up a fair amount of time. On top of that, you are paying extra for the all-you-care-to-enjoy nature of them, so if you aren’t a big eater, it can be hard to justify the price!
If you’re on a tight budget or schedule and don’t have a big appetite, you might want to avoid these dining experiences.
Signature Dining Experiences
Lastly, Disney has some seriously impressive restaurants — some that are even recognized by the Michelin Guide.
While we love trying some of Disney’s more elevated restaurants, there are plenty of delicious options that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. If you’re on a tight budget, you don’t have to stretch yourself thin just to try that expensive spot that everybody told you was a must.
Find the right place that makes sense for your group. Flame Tree Barbecue, Chicken Guy!, Regal Eagle Smokehouse, and Woody’s Lunch Box are just some of the great quick-service options that we really enjoy. We even rounded up a list of some of the best value spots in the park.
While there is a time and place for all of these types of meals, it’s a good idea to figure out which ones make the most sense for your family and which ones you should avoid. We’ll keep bringing you all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

Why hasn’t the Cake Bake restaurant opened? I was over there this week and it looks to me like the construction had stopped. We were so wanting to try this place and thought it was opening around now. Is our governor with his I’m out to get Disney attitude to blame for this? Your review of this coming restaurant with that wonderful tea room was excellent a few months ago. Thanks, Candice
