You know which Resort Counter Service location has a couple of fun options for breakfast?
Good’s Food to Go at Old Key West Resort!
Now, you may be thinking, “Great! Wait…. where?” And that’s fair enough. Because Good’s Food to Go isn’t exactly what you might call a high profile location. While Olivia’s Cafe — Old Key West’s Table Service restaurant — has earned its great reputation (though it still flies under the radar due to its non-park-centric location), Good’s Food to Go is hardly known at all.
Which makes sense. You’ll soon see that it’s not “destination dining,” per se.
Even though its surroundings reflect the fun and tropical Keys vibe of the Resort (and it’s tucked right next to what is possibly the cutest little bar in all of Disney World, the Gurgling Suitcase)… [Read more…]

Wow! What a fun surprise to see so many Disney Restaurants participating in Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month for 2017!
September is Orlando Magical Dining Month sponsored by Visit Orlando, and it begins with a preview week on August 25th and runs through October 1st. Magical Dining offers Orlando locals and guests the chance to enjoy the Orlando culinary scene at a significant savings: $35 for three courses at participating area restaurants. This year, the tally is over 100 restaurants offering the prix fixe dinners, which include appetizer, entree, and dessert.
In keeping with tradition, one dollar from each meal goes to support local charities. Freedom Ride and BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation are the two charities for 2017.
For a complete list of participating restaurants and Magical Dining Month menus, head over to Visit Orlando’s website. And to see all of the restaurants at Disney World and in the immediate Lake Buena Vista area, click here.
This year, an unprecedented number of Disney restaurants are participating, and we are happily surprised to see several Disney owned and operated spots on the list! Among them are The Turf Club, Boatwright’s Dining Hall, Grand Floridian Cafe, Jiko, Olivia’s Cafe, and The Wave… of American Flavors.

Happy 45th Anniversary, Walt Disney World!
And Happy Anniversary to Disney World Annual Passholders, who can take part in the celebration by enjoying some brand new discounts at select dining and merchandise locations around Disney World for the anniversary year! [Read more…]
On my last weekend trip to Walt Disney World, I decided on the out-of-the-way Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort as our dinner destination prior to attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom.
My family was looking for a place to relax and fill up on a good meal, and somewhere that we could get a last minute Advance Dining Reservation.
While this resort exudes comfort and a family-friendly atmosphere for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members, we found the service equally welcoming for non-guests of the hotel. Since we had our own vehicle, transportation to the restaurant was simple. (And our teen son, who traveled from a theme park, had no trouble taking a bus there. He even got there early!) We used our MagicBand to show our reservation at the entrance gate and then proceeded to a parking area very close to the restaurant.
Nautical elements evoke a seaside atmosphere at the entrance to Olivia’s.

For this round of “What’s New,” we’re heading to three Disney World parks and five Resorts to check out candy apples, menu changes, comfort foods, and oodles of cold drinks to help you cool down in hot temperatures! Welcome back to “What’s New!”
Magic Kingdom rang in the summer with the 24-Hour Rock Your Disney Side event. Several treats debuted that day, which were originally intended to be around just for those 24 hours; but a few made the cut to stick around a little longer, including these eye-catching Maleficent Krispy Treats and cake pops found in the Main Street Confectionery and Big Top Treats.
If you followed our coverage that day, you may have seen the Sunshine Tree Terrace’s Orange Bird join the candy apple ranks as well, but just in case you missed it, here he is!
He’s too cute to not show twice 😉 !
And at Main Street Bakery, the Olaf the Snowman Carrot Cake Cupcake remains, alongside a Frozen-themed one as well.
In Liberty Square, Columbia Harbour House is offering two new dinner-only comfort foods: Seafood Macaroni & Cheese and Chicken Pot Pie. You can read our review here!
added a great-sounding choice to their list of entrees: a Beef Brisket Onion Burger.
At Tony’s Town Square, guests can now choose a Seasonal and Sustainable Fresh Catch Salad. And at lunch, a Meatball Trio has replaced the Meatball Sliders.
is serving up a new Cherry Slush topped with Lemon-Lime Fomz.
Read more about it (and the mystery that is “Fomz”) by clicking here!
The Refreshment Cool Post (found in the Africa Outpost as you stroll around World Showcase) is offering a few summer treats: Pineapple and Coconut Frozen Yogurt (served solo or swirled together) and a Mango Rum Smoothie featuring African Starr Rum. Check out our review of the new Frozen Yogurt flavors here!
A couple of really fun new adult beverages have arrived in Animal Kingdom!
Head over to Asia’s Drinkwallah for a Coconut-Lychee Lemonade with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum. We’ll have a review on the blog soon!
Or if you’ve really got to tame your sweet tooth, try [Read more…]

As those who have stayed there will know, Old Key West Resort in Walt Disney World has a special feel all its own. It was the first Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Resort, and, to many guests, it really is a home away from home.
Recently we stopped by to see the results of some recent refurbishments in the dining spots here.
We’ll start with a change at Good’s Foods To Go, the Resort’s Quick Service option.
While the menu is unchanged (you’ll still find the Conch Chowder!), the beverage refill station now opens up into a hallway that allows guests to enter the area from the side coming from the pool as well as the front.
This helps the area feel less cramped and more easily accessible, and the natural light coming in brightens the overall space.
Our next stop is right next door at the Gurgling Suitcase. This little bar is well-loved… and with good reason.
While the general set-up is the same (the space itself remains in the same area and has retained its intimate size), the decor has gone through some changes. The difference that [Read more…]

What’s new in your favorite Disney World “chomping grounds”? What’s changed? Read on to find out what we’ve checked out recently!
The biggest change over the past week has been the addition of The Smokehouse to Downtown Disney’s West Side. This stop for all-things-barbeque features a lovely outdoor seating area and the chance to enjoy live music.
Signs of bigger changes to come can be spotted all over Downtown Disney as the area delves into its transformation to Disney Springs … and when I say “signs,” I mean actual signs.
We’ll be sharing more in a future post, but the artwork all over Downtown Disney give us an idea of what guests can look forward to in the future.
A smaller change – yet nearly as significant for fans of “Earl’s” 😉 – is that Earl of Sandwich has added [Read more…]
