The Walt Disney Company is in the middle of being restructured, after Bob Iger announced that $5.5 billion in spending cuts would be coming — including 7,000 layoffs that were previously announced.
We’ve already seen a few rounds of these layoffs happen, but Disney has indicated that more could be on the way. In March, Disney laid off a team of about 50 members on the next-generation storytelling and consumer-experiences unit, effectively squashing the company’s plans to expand into the metaverse. And now, we have another update.

Ever since the Disney World parks closed last year, we’ve seen a lot of charities and fundraisers to help out the Cast Members who lost their jobs.
When thousands of Cast Members were laid off due to the pandemic, many fans stepped up in a big way and helped out to support those in need. Thankfully, that generosity is still continuing, and if you’d like to help out some of those furloughed employees, there’s an event you need to know about!

With strict theme park guidelines from the California government and limited ICU availability in the state, Disneyland has been forced to keep its doors closed for months now. Midway through this closure, the resort got a new President. Take a look at his comments on taking up the mantle in one of the most challenging periods in Disneyland’s history.
Since the Disney World parks initially reopened in July 2020, more guests have recently begun making their way to the Resort.
In November, Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed that the capacity at the parks had been increased from the initial reopening level of 25% up to 35% capacity.

We’ve seen food banks, benefit shows and albums, and so much more! Now, one of the food banks started by furloughed Cast Members is now in danger of closing — but there are ways you can help!
