UPDATE: The Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island will now reopen on Friday, February 5th, 2021.
Disney World has a lot of attraction and restaurant closures scheduled in the next few months!
Disney World is ramping up to celebrate its 50th anniversary and sprucing up the place a bit. We’re listing every ride, restaurant, and resort that will be closed for refurbishments between February 1st through February 7th, 2021.
Liberty Square Market in Magic Kingdom closed for refurbishment in early January.
The quick-service location had walls up starting January 11th, and it’s expected to reopen in February. And in Magic Kingdom today, we spotted something promising!
We have been soaking in all of the NEW things that have recently opened in Disney World, like the beautiful new EPCOT entrance fountain and the delicious Gideon’s Bakehouse. But, there’s still quite a few projects that have been delayed following the temporary closure of the theme parks.
We are no stranger to construction walls and an “in-progress” status when it comes to projects around Disney World. Though, we’re starting to wonder what’s happening with some highly anticipated restaurants that were seemingly announced eons ago.

Disney World is totally revamping EPCOT with new attractions, nighttime shows, and even a new look!
EPCOT is a literal maze of construction walls and gutted buildings at the moment. The theme park is undergoing a MASSIVE overhaul that will totally transform the theme park. Guests will be able to experience all sorts of new adventures when it’s all said done. So, let’s take a photo tour so you can see exactly what the construction progress is and what construction looks like on ALL the BIG EPCOT projects.
Disney World will often close attractions, restaurants, or resorts for refurbishments. Some closures are scheduled in advance while others are unexpected and due to maintenance issues or other reasons.
You won’t always find the closures advertised before your trip so it’s good to stay in the know! We’re here to help you plan ahead by listing all the planned refurbishments for this week. Check out everything this will be closed between January 25th through January 31st!
If you’ve been to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World recently, you might have noticed that the Rivers of America has been drained for some time.
Currently Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat are listed on the refurb calendar through Feb. 28. And today, we did see active construction on the island while we were at Magic Kingdom!

We’ve been tracking the progress on the new M&M’s Store at Disney Springs. We can’t wait to get our hands on all the chocolate! While we anxiously await an opening date, we saw more progress on construction as we passed by today!
