We’re big fans of The BOATHOUSE in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs, so when we spot a new dessert on the menu, we get kind of excited. And in this case, we spied something pretty awesome on The BOATHOUSE’s Instagram account.
This Turtle Brownie in Epcot is SO MUCH AWESOME.
in the Land Pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot is a great go-to for desserts — including the always incredible Red Velvet Mickey Whoopie Pie and the fruity Strawberry Shortcake!
And since our expectations are high for Sunshine Seasons — and because we’re always on the lookout for new eats! — we like to check out the pastry case here as often as possible. (Maybe we’re just making excuses to eat more desserts…) On my most recent visit, I discovered the new Turtle Brownie. And let me tell you: this is a hidden gem!
This is one indulgent treat! A layer of dense, chocolatey brownie is topped with serious. caramel. action! The layer of thick, gooey caramel on this thing was, like, half an inch thick!!!
And the whole thing is covered in chocolate frosting, pecans, and chocolate chips.
It’s true — a LOT of brownies in Disney World are dry little squares of waste-of-money. But this one? Don’t pass it by, my friends. DO NOT PASS THIS BY.
Consider bringing a brownie buddy… or just get yourself a bottle of milk, park yourself in a comfy booth, and take your time! This hidden gem is our favorite kind: sweet, delicious, and addictive!

News! ‘Ohana Bread Pudding Now Available at Tambu Lounge in Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Resort
Well, we know that a lot of guests will be unhappy in the coming weeks and months as Disney’s Polynesian Resort undergoes some serious refurb and renovation — closing several of the dining locations on property.
But THIS is a welcome “benefit” of the whole situation!
We’re excited to let you know that everyone’s favorite Disney dessert (OK — my favorite dessert, but I know you guys like it, too!) from ‘Ohana is now available to any Tom, Dick, or Harry who strolls into Tambu Lounge!
Yep — this better-than-anything pineapple bread pudding topped with ice cream and covered in caramel sauce is more than the sum of its parts…and you can get your own personal serving at the Poly’s popular resort lounge. No more need to buy the whole dinner at ‘Ohana to get the very best part!
(You can see a review of other great Tambu Lounge goodies here!)
We’ve been asking for years if we can get this must-have dessert at the Lounge, and while it’s happened a few times, the answer is more than often “no.” We’re thrilled that — at least for a little while — the answer will be a resounding “YES!!” Note that the serving will just be for one…you do NOT get that lovely all-you-care-to-eat bowl of the stuff here. 😉
We’re not sure how long this will be available, but it’s going to become a new Disney World First Day Tradition for me until it’s gone!
Can’t make it to WDW right now? Make this at home with our Bread Pudding Recipe!
Will Tambu Lounge be a stop on your Disney destination list now that the famous bread pudding is on the menu? Let us know in the comments below!
Top 5 Disney Dessert Recipes!
I know you’ve got a big event planned soon and you’re looking for the perfect recipe to try out…right?
OK, even if you’re not, I think today’s post might inspire you to start planning a dinner party! Let’s check out my top 5 favorite Disney dessert recipes! Which ones have you sampled in the parks?
Bananas Foster Bread Pudding at ‘Ohana
Alrighty — it’s time to start out with a BANG! There are few things that I love to eat in all of Disney World more than the Bread Pudding at ‘Ohana.
This Polynesia-meets-churrascaria restaurant can be somewhat unpredictable in terms of quality. But one thing is always certain: the dessert is PERFECT. Seriously…every single time!
The bread pudding is served warm with a heaping scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, and the most incredible sauce ever. I could easily eat a bowl full of it.
It was a happy day when I discovered the ‘Ohana bread pudding recipe, and with it, the power to make this one at home!
Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake at Liberty Tree Tavern
Say what you will about Liberty Tree Tavern, the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is a must-order!
While Liberty Tree Tavern dinner is served family style and consists of roasted meats and traditional sides, lunch features an a la carte menu…and it’s awesome. There are many dishes on the menu that I look forward to having when I visit, but I never leave without ordering dessert, and it’s always Ooey-Gooey Toffee Cake!
Less a cake and more like a rich, shallow, muffin-shaped chocolate chip cookie, I fell in love with this treat the first time I tasted it! And I could have kicked myself for having passed on it before then. The flavor combo of [Read more…]
Snack Series: Mickey Mouse Cupcake (and More!) at Art of Animation Resort
There is never a dull moment when you hit up Landscape of Flavors Food Court at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.
I recently got to stay at AOA and couldn’t wait to share some of the fun grab-and-go eats we found. Today, we’re looking at a DFB favorite: cupcakes!
Mickey Oreo Cupcake
First up, this happy little find! While I’ve seen this type of cupcake elsewhere, this is the first spot I’ve seen it with the added Mickey white chocolate face!
Under the lid, you’ll find a fairly standard yellow cupcake with buttercream frosting. But the little white chocolate Mickey face and Oreo “ears” add a little something special to the mix.
Concerned about [Read more…]

Triple Chocolate Cake in Disney World
This is one of the varied “counter-service” desserts you’ll find in Disney World on your visit — many of which are lackluster. And that’s initially what I feared about the chocolate cake! Would it be any good?
I decided to get it on a visit to Tortuga Tavern because I’d never had it before (and I never want there to be any food at Disney World that I’ve never had before…).
I took the cake to an outdoor table and snapped some shots. It looked good enough, with that ooey-gooey frosting and the Mickey sprinkles…
But, like I said, I’ve been burned before when it comes to counter-service desserts!
I soon dug in…and was MORE than impressed! This cake was moist — not at all dry or crumbly like my previous experiences with counter-service cake — and the frosting was super fudgy. Even better, it really packed a dark chocolate punch of flavor.
Maybe my standards were just set low, but I really did [Read more…]
Snack Series: Key Lime Tart at Epcot’s Sunshine Seasons
There are plenty of well-loved spots to eat all over Walt Disney World. (Don’t I know it!) But one spot that we love — and you do too, judging from your reviews, emails, and comments — is Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.
So recently, after a trip Soarin’ over California, 😉 I stopped by there for a bite to eat, and found a little snack that I can’t wait to share with you!
If you aren’t familiar with Sunshine Seasons, you need to be! It’s a huge counter service spot located on the first floor within The Land Pavilion in Epcot’s Future World. Set up as a food court, there are countless freshly made and interesting food options featured everyday at the various stations, plus many more grab n’ go desserts and snacks.
I’d heard a lot from readers about the Key Lime Tart here, and I was looking forward to trying it. Overall, you’ve got a subtantial graham cracker crust filled with key lime filling and topped with toasted meringue.

Disney Recipe: Maple Crème Brûlée from Epcot’s Le Cellier Steakhouse
I’ve tried a lot of Disney Crème Brûlée, and this one is definitely near the top of the list!
Time to head over to Epcot and into fan (and DFB!) favorite Le Cellier Steakhouse for today’s Disney recipe!
The Maple Crème Brûlée here has got to be one of the most-often ordered desserts on the menu, and it’s very clear why! The super creamy custard has exactly the right amount of sweet maple flavor — and it’s perfect for the holidays!
So while we can’t provide a Moosehead or a serenade by Off Kilter to complete the virtual trip to Epcot’s Canada Pavilion, this decadent dessert will go a long way to putting a smile on your face!
Maple Crème Brûlée
Serves 6
Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Review: Pop Century Resort’s Tie Dye Cheesecake
After featuring the Tie-Dye Cheesecake recipe on Disney Food Blog back in July 2009, I figured it was high time to review it!
Found at Disney World’s Pop Century Resort, this unique dessert has been a staple since the resort’s opening in 2003. And one reason why I think it’s particularly special (besides the fact that it’s gorgeous) is that it’s one of only a few unique, resort-specific desserts found on Disney World property (Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Zebra Domes and Port Orleans French Quarter’s beignets are two others in the club).
While this cake looks crazy, it’s actually pretty simple in structure. A multi-colored [Read more…]
Disney World Ice Cream Parlor Throw Down
I’ve loved pretty much every ice cream sundae I’ve ever had in the World, so you guys are going to be the deciding votes today on the:
BEST ICE CREAM PARLOR IN DISNEY WORLD
Any one of these ice cream parlors can provide bigger-than-life sundaes and ice cream concoctions full of chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, butter pecan, candy bars, strawberries, mint chocolate chip, sorbet, hot fudge, whipped cream, cherries, and more. And while each one has a different specialty, they’re all going to fit the bill when what you’re craving is some really great ice cream! Therefore, I thought it’d be fun to see which one of these ice cream palaces would win in a showdown with Disney Foodies as judges! Here are the Contenders: [Read more…]
