So you booked your Disney World trip in May thinking it would be the perfect time to go.

Totally fair. May sounds like a sweet spot — spring break crowds are gone, summer vacation mobs haven’t rolled in yet, and you’re feeling optimistic. But trust us, there are a few curveballs this month likes to throw your way. Before you pack those mouse ears, let’s talk about some mistakes you don’t want to make on your trip.
A major Walt Disney World attraction is about to close… but NOT for long.
Blizzard Beach
During the last several years, Disney has operated their two water parks on an alternating basis, meaning that when Typhoon Lagoon was open, Blizzard Beach would be closed, and vice versa. Which in turn made the announcement that when the former reopens from refurbishment, the latter would be closing. However, that’s not the whole story this time…
May is set to mark the beginning of celebrations for a momentous Disneyland anniversary that will likely draw visitors from all over the world to the “Happiest Place on Earth”… and we think it might be a better idea to wait before going!

Beginning on May 16th, Disneyland will begin celebrating the 70th anniversary of the resort with the Celebrate Happy promotion! According to Disney, the event will feature “new magic that adds even more happiness to some of your favorite attractions, plus special entertainment, colorful décor, food and beverages, the “Celebrate Happy” song, collectible merchandise and more.” However, if you’re planning on joining the celebration, you may be better off waiting until July, especially if you’re a Disney history aficionado.
There are quite a few times when you’ll want to avoid Disney World if you’re averse to crowds!

There are some obvious answers, including major holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, as well as holiday weekends, Spring Break season, and the summer. But on top of that, Disney World can get busy with various rogue events, like runDisney races or cheerleading competitions. And now, we’ve got a warning about an upcoming weekend!
We just had a big day of announcements for Walt Disney World. There are special character meet and greets coming to BOTH Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new DRONE show is coming to Disney Springs, and a new seating area opened in Animal Kingdom.
We love a good EPCOT festival!
Plus, we got some REALLY exciting news regarding a new Encanto show and the OFFICIAL OPENING DATE for CommuniCore Hall and Plaza Festival Area in EPCOT! It was A LOT, and we are still recovering from all the news!
