Hola amigos!
As you may know, we here at DFB love the eats and drinks in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion. From celebrity-crafted cocktails at La Cava del Tequila to the street corn at Choza de Margarita, it’s one of our favorite places for a snack and drink. But recently, we found ourselves in need of more than a light bite — so we decided to visit an old favorite: La Cantina de San Angel!
In case you missed the memo, there’s basically a Food Festival happening over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom right now!
The Animal Kingdom’s Tasting Sampler has returned for a third run this winter.

We’ve sure been doing some talking about Epcot lately, what with the 2017 International Food and Wine Festival starting in less than a month (!!!) and some sneaky peeks happening over the past few weeks.
But lest we get lost in a sea of future Marketplace Booths, there is plenty happening in the here and now, too. And one of the places it’s ALWAYS happening is La Cava del Tequila inside the Mexico Pavilion of World Showcase.
This cave full of liquor features one of my absolute favorites with the Avocado Margarita, which remains near the top of my Drinking Around the World list. It’s creamy, surprisingly refreshing, and fully satisfying on a hot day. But if you’re looking to stray outside the list of tried and true favorites, with over 70 types of tequila you can easily find something new-to-you!
So let’s head on down to La Cava, inside the Mexico pyramid. And remember, you can queue up to grab your drinks To-Go; or you can wait for a table to open up at this cozy little spot.
But if you do choose to sit a spell, you can’t beat the atmosphere. Low lighting, lots of stone and brick work, beautiful murals showcasing the tequila-making process, and carved chairs help this place feel right at home in the beautiful Pavilion while still having a vibe unique to anywhere else in Disney World. It’s a great little getaway. [Read more…]
We have some news at the Magic Kingdom! No, our beloved plastic cheese isn’t back, but there is a new melty, cheesy goodness available at Pecos Bill’s!
If you’re not familiar, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe is like a magical Chipotle serving fajitas, burritos, and rice bowls with a pretty extensive toppings bar in Frontierland. We also give it high marks for the delicious mini churros with a side of chocolate sauce!
It’s located right at the corner of Adventureland and Frontierland with a ton of indoor seating, so it’s a great place to relax and enjoy lunch — and maybe dry off after a trip through the Briar Patch at Splash Mountain!

Aaaahhh
, La Cava del Tequila… what’s a trip around World Showcase without walking inside your doors?
Well, we’re back, and we’re here to celebrate a very special birthday…La Cava del Tequila just turned five years old! For a place that’s still relatively new (in Disney World terms, anyway), it sure has earned its place on the absolute MUST list ever since opening its doors in August 2009.
We’re celebrating this special occasion with a few of my favorite things (cue the song!) and branching out with a few sips I’d never tried before.
As the saying goes, it may be “5 o’clock somewhere,” but we’re just happy when it’s 12 o’clock at La Cava del Tequila!
Is it noon yet 😉 ? Then let’s step in!
Small and cozy (and often crowded due to its well-deserved reputation), there’s still plenty for the eye to take in. Obviously, the tequila gets the spotlight – both figuratively and literally!
When you first walk in, [Read more…]

It’s been over a year since Epcot’s newest Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda de San Angel, opened its doors to great fanfare.
Our first visit there (when it first opened) was good, but not entirely memorable; so we were eager to give this spot a second try. And this time we brought along AJ’s Mom and AJ’s Dad to get their feedback!
La Hacienda is a beautiful restaurant. The contemporary decor, look, and feel of the place gives off a polished, sleek Mexico-inspired vibe without being kitschy and stereotypical. The high ceilings and simple furnishings give the space a fresh, light, airy feel; but the furniture is solid and steady — a fun contrast!
I think it’s got one of the most soothing vistas on Disney property — a long-windowed look out onto the World Showcase Lagoon and [Read more…]

Do you feel that? That’s the pure and utter joy that I feel about being able to give you this super fun news.
You know I love La Cava del Tequila. You know it’s one of my favorite places in Walt Disney World, with its cozy seating areas, top-of-the-line margaritas, and fun atmosphere.
I’ve talked about this spot on the blog before, but just wanted to share a few more fun photos with you! The line of tequilas…
The cozy lighting…
And these guys. I mean, how can you NOT love this place when they have things like this as decor? I mean…what are these things?
Anyway, La Cava just did something last week that makes me love them even MORE than I already did (I didn’t think it was possible!). During my research trip for the new DFB MiniGuide to Epcot Snacks, I stopped into Cava to check out the appetizer menu (it’s been changing consistently all year).
My favorite item — Queso with Jalapeno — was still on the menu, but I knew I didn’t have time to sit and order. So I asked if it would be possible to [Read more…]

A few months ago, we sadly reported that La Cava del Tequila in Epcot’s Mexico pavilion had nixed many of the food items form its menu.
On our recent visit, we were happy to see a few new additions, including Queso Con Jalapeno (QUESO!!!!) and Crab Tostadas.
Also on the menu is the [Read more…]
