News: Ice Cream Flights Now Available at Ample Hills Creamery on Disney’s Boardwalk

So, let’s say you’re at Ample Hills Creamery on Disney’s Boardwalk.

And let’s suppose you’re taking in all the choices at Disney’s latest ice cream shop… because this is where things get tricky.

How do you decide between flavors like Coffee Toffee Coffee, Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, Malty Salty Pretzel Punch, Baked/Unbaked (filled with house-made chocolate chip cookies and brown butter cookie dough), Sally Sells Seashells (a flavor made exclusively for Disney World), or — my favorite — Peppermint Pattie full of house-made mint chocolate patties? And that’s just naming a few.

It’s not easy, folks.

BUT… there IS a way to ease the dilemma a bit. Ice Cream Flights are now available at Ample Hills Creamery!

Just like the sign says, “Can’t pick just 1 flavor? Get a taste of up to 6 different flavors!” I’m so excited! I’ve been waiting for these to arrive since they opened their doors this Summer! [Read more…]

What’s New Around Walt Disney World: October 20, 2016

HAPPY OCTOBER!!! Milder temps have returned to Walt Disney World where we’re checking out What’s New in all four parks, Disney Springs, and a few of our favorite Resorts. AND it’s still high time for Pumpkin Spice, Candy Corn, and All Things Autumn.

New Margarita Kiosk/Bar Under Construction in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion?

Remember when the popular little Margarita Stand in the Mexico Pavilion closed early this summer to make way for the Frozen attraction construction in Norway?

Former Mexico Margarita Stand

Former Mexico Margarita Stand

Plenty of us were sad to see it go. Even though our top prize for Margaritas goes to La Cava del Tequila (which is tucked inside the Mexico Pavilion’s pyramid), many of us carry a soft spot for the home to those layered Fiesta Margaritas that were a go-to Mexico stop during an attempt at Drinking Around the World! Review: Cocktails, Cupcakes, and Seasonal Specialties at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Today we’re trying out a couple of drinks and a seasonal cupcake at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

When we’re imbibing at this beautiful resort, we’re usually paying a visit to one of our favorite bars in Disney World, Territory Lounge. Today, though, we’re stepping outside to enjoy some drinks at Trout Pass Pool Bar. Even if you aren’t going for a dip in Silver Creek Springs Pool, you can still stop by Trout Pass if you’re checking out Fire Rock Geyser or just exploring the grounds.

At Trout Pass, you’ll certainly find plenty of the pool bar drinks that are standards on the Disney Pool Bar Menu, like the Captain’s Mai Tai, the Banana Cabana, and the Pina CoLAVA. But, Trout Pass has also started following the fun trend at spots like the Polynesian Village Resort’s Barefoot Pool Bar, Pop Century’s Petals Pool Bar, and Muddy Rivers at Port Orleans Riverside, where specialty drinks themed to the Resort are available at the pool bars as well. This used to be the norm at the pool bars, but then things got all homogenous. I’m glad to see they’re coming back!

Only at Trout Pass, things work a bit differently.

Daily Drinks

The specialty offerings rotate as part of the Daily Drink Specials, featuring a different specialty cocktail for each day of the week. You’ll find a nice variety of both iced and frozen drinks for a warm Florida day by the pool! The Northwest theme of the resort is echoed in the names of the beverages like the Lumberjack, Ponderosa Pine, and Silver Creek Peach. [Read more…]

Review: New Mocha Brownie at Epcot’s Fountain View

When you stop by Fountain View in Epcot for your Starbucks fix, there’s a new sweet treat to try!

There are two ways to ride Soarin without a FastPass: groggily walk to park opening and make a mad dash to be first in line, or leisurely stroll into Epcot and stand in the hours-long line that’s waiting for you. So whether you make your coffee stop before or after, Fountain View will come in handy.

You can’t miss Fountain View on your way to the back of the park. It will be looking over Epcot’s amazing fountains directly across from Mouse Gears and right next to Club Cool.

News: Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel Returns to Magic Kingdom

We’re back at the Magic Kingdom for Round Two of the Returning Snacks Series!

Perhaps you were with us when we stopped by Sleepy Hollow Refreshments earlier this week to investigate the return of the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich. (It was something of a disappointment, honestly. Find out why here.)

Well, we had one more item to look into that day…. could the rumors be true? Had the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel REALLY come back to The Lunching Pad? And, if so, is it still every bit as good as we remember?

Not that it’s so hard to remember. The Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel only split from the scene earlier this year, and unfortunately its savory counterpart, the Jalapeño Cheese Pretzel, disappeared right along with it.

But, lo and behold, on our recent Magic Kingdom jaunt, there it was.

The Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel is back on the menu at The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland (still priced about the same as it was and once again a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan)! [Read more…]

News! Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich Returns to Magic Kingdom. (Just WAY Smaller and WAY More Expensive.)

Okay, I was SUPER PUMPED when I started hearing about the return of a certain favorite sandwich to the Magic Kingdom.

Our roving reporter headed straight to Main Street, U.S.A. to begin a trek to discover the truth behind recent rumors of the return of the treat.

The main objective: Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square to find out if the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich was back on the menu.

And IT IS!! The Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich is once again listed along with the Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich, and the relatively recent addition of the Sausage and Cheddar-stuffed Pretzel.

The Chicken Waffle Sandwich made its return with… a gigantic price increase (womp, womp).

It’s now $10.29. So, there ya go. But still… it’s BACK! So we had to try it to see if it was the same goodness it always was. As a reminder, here’s the sandwich in its previous form. Big Belgian waffle, big chicken, slaw, and arugula. (Can you sense we’re setting you up for disappointment here?) [Read more…]
