Pull out those costumes and get ready for some spooks — Oogie Boogie Bash is BACK at Disneyland Resort over at Disney California Adventure Park!
This Halloween-themed event features all kinds of special offerings including immersive treat trails, unique character appearances, candy (of course), and sooo much more. We attended the very first night of Oogie Boogie Bash and have been taking you along with us for the ride. All of the food and merch are fun, but the real reason why Oogie Boogie Bash succeeds is…its entertainment! So right now we’re taking a special look at ALL of the entertainment and characters you’ll get to see during the party.
The entertainment at Oogie Boogie Bash is next level, particularly when it comes to rare character appearances, photo ops, and the unique Villains Grove. If you want entertainment, Oogie Boogie Bash has got it and it’s often entertainment you can’t find anywhere else. So let’s go over everything you can check out while there.
Characters (Photo Spots and Treat Trails)
Throughout Oogie Boogie Bash, you’ll find some super popular characters (and even some rare friends) decked out in Halloween gear or otherwise just meeting guests. Characters can be found at various places throughout Disney California Adventure Park, including within those immersive Treat Trails, so don’t forget to keep those eyes peeled!
Photo opportunities are marked on the map with a camera, while treat trails are marked with a little cauldron.
Last year we got to see a bunch of friends throughout the party, and this year was no different.
While at the party this year, we actually got to meet THE Bruno from Encanto.
Yes, we sang the song for the rest of the night. Yes, it will now be stuck in your head all day. You’re welcome. 😆

There was also a really special photo op available with Mickey dressed in his Kingdom Hearts attire.
Lines for this photo op were REALLLLLLY long, so be prepared for that.
The answer to the question, “Who looks better than Mickey tonight?”…NO ONE! Look at him! ❤️💛 pic.twitter.com/Z2Q5M28nKw

…and we found Remy and Emile at the party too!
We also spotted some spectacular villains on the treat trails, including Ernesto De La Cruz (YES, FOR REAL)…
…Maleficent…
…Sid from Toy Story…
…Dr. Facilier…
…Agatha Harkness…
…Mother Gothel…
…and Cruella!
Lines for characters and treat trails can get LONG though.
Come prepared to wait a bit for those really popular or rare folks.

Frightfully Fun Parade
It wouldn’t be a Disney party without a parade, right?! Right! At Oogie Boogie Bash you’ll get to watch the Frightfully Fun Parade! This parade features Mickey, Minnie, and some spelltacular Disney villains!
The parade starts in Paradise Gardens Park and goes through California Adventure Park to Hollywood Land. It’s available at 7:45PM and 10PM each party night.
This truly is a parade you won’t want to miss. During the parade, we got to see the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow kick off the festivities.

Be sure to stick around to see the Cheshire Cat hanging out, just enjoying all of the spooky mayhem!
Want to make sure you get a good seat for the parade? Don’t forget that you can reserve an Oogie Boogie Bash Dining Package (which features a 3-course meal at Wine Country Trattoria) or an Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party, both of which come with some special seating for the parade fun.
Mickey’s Trick and Treat
If it’s a live show you’re looking for, Oogie Boogie Bash has you covered there too! At Mickey’s Trick and Treat you’ll get to watch Mickey and Minnie celebrate Halloween with some not-so-spooky stories.

…as well as their friend who is in a “mad scientist” costume.
There are appearances by Goofy and Donald Duck.
But things get really interesting when their friend brews up a special potion. Before you know it, there are ghosts and bats to run from!
During the show, you’ll get to hear some original Halloween songs, check out fun projections and special effects, and dance along.
It’s a great show for the whole family to enjoy together. You’ll find it at Hollywood Land.
Villains Grove
During Oogie Boogie Bash, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into a sinister, spooky, and honestly pretty gorgeous place called Villains Grove. Within the Grove, there are different areas themed to Disney characters and villains. As you walk through the path you’ll encounter what Disney pretty accurately describes as “hauntingly beautiful” colors, projections, light effects, and more.
This year, just like last year, there were a few different themed areas.
At Frollo’s Sanctuary, you’ll find an “otherworldly cathedral of trees” and you may just smell a bit of incense or hear some chanting voices that’ll make a tingle go down your spine!
Next is Maleficent’s Will. This area has ravens, vines full of thorns, and all kinds of different colors. We have a feeling it’s a place Maleficent would be proud of.
Then you’ll stumble into the Queen of Hearts Garden. WATCH OUT and be sure to paint those roses red.

Further into the trail you can visit some friends on the other side with Dr. Facilier. This area has some shadows that may just look like hands reaching out to GRAB YOU along with “colorful spells” meant to lure you deeper and deeper into the grove.
The Wicked Queen’s area is a Lightning Forest so get ready to catch some storm flashes as they jump from branch to branch.
But wait, not everything is evil in this forest. Some friends are helping you escape in the Home of the Wisps section. These little friends can help guide you to safety, so follow their lights out of the grove!
Finally, you reach the last part of the grove, “Dawn.” In this space, you’ll realize that you’ve escaped the evils of the grove just in time! Follow the lanterns and shining light out of the path. And be sure to grab a few extra photos because the fog and lighting effects can make this area especially gorgeous.
While you might not see any “traditional” characters in here, Villains Grove captures the spirit of these Disney baddies in a beautiful and slightly creepy (in a good way) fashion. It’s a spot you won’t want to miss!
And that’s a look at the Oogie Boogie Bash entertainment!
Oogie Boogie Bash will be taking place on select nights from now through October 31st, 2022. Tickets are unfortunately sold out, but if you were lucky enough to score one, you’ve got lots of great entertainment awaiting you!

Don Andrews says
I was at the D23 Oogie Boogie Bash last Friday night. I thought it was a total waste of money. Boring comes to mind. I was looking for oogie boogie bash merchandise and was told they never got any in. Even the workers didn’t know where oogie boogie was. Going to this was the biggest mistake of my trip.
