Helloooo out there in DFB Land! Today, we’re talking about how to save a few bucks when it comes to food at Disney!
Wait what? Save money?? At Disney?!?
Yup! And that’s why the subject of today’s DFB Video is some of our Very Favorite Meals for Under $20 in Walt Disney World!
If you haven’t heard the big news, I’m here to deliver it: April is Grilled Cheese Month. And that, my friends, is a food holiday that we can totally get behind.
Because we know of a BUNCH of seriously worthy grilled cheese choices in the Disney parks and resorts that we can’t wait to tell you about!
And if you love what you see here, be sure to check out our 2017 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, which includes tons of bonus features, like fun food crawls throughout Walt Disney World!
Now pack your bags and your stretchy pants, cause it’s time to head to both coasts to partake in the Disney Food Blog Grilled Cheese Crawl!
(Should there be Rocky music playing here or something? I feel like there should be.)
Who’s coming with? Let’s go!
If you were there with us when Planet Hollywood Observatory opened (or actually, reopened) its doors earlier this year, then you know that we weren’t all that impressed with most of what we tried. But there was one standout: the Pimento Grilled Cheese.
The triple decker sandwich is two meals in one. First, you have a fairly traditional Grilled Cheese, spiced up with the addition of Pimento Cheese. But then, the second story involved super cheesy Mac and Cheese layered between crunchy Grilled Bread. Yep, that’s A Layer of Carbs on Top of More Carbs. And we are completely fine with that. There are two things that are high on the list of things we LOVE here at the DFB.
One: Jiko — The Cooking Place in Animal Kingdom Lodge. And two: MAC AND CHEESE!!
Once upon a time, these two things together made for a magical combination, as Jiko’s flavorful, rich, 4-cheese Mac and Cheese used to be served with the Oak-grilled Filet Mignon. However, times change. And for some time now, the signature Filet has instead been served with a rotating side, changing every couple of months or so (which is the reason I always recommended working the system a bit and ordering the Kids’ Macaroni and Cheese to go alongside your dish). For instance, the Filet is currently served with Pumpkin Pap “Isidudu,” Grilled Delta Asparagus, and South African Red Wine Sauce.
Until tomorrow. Because — and we are SO PUMPED to tell you this — starting tomorrow (April 7th), the Filet Mignon will once again be served with the Mac and Cheese! With a twist, that is…
The Mac and Cheese will be made with the same four cheese sauce, but will also feature many of the ingredients that can be incorporated into a Bobotie (just click here to read a bit more about this dish as it’s served at Boma, also located in Animal Kingdom Lodge). [Read more…]

Hello! The subject of today’s DFB Video is one of my most favorite things to come out of Walt Disney World in recent history — the Chuck Wagon Fresh Fixin’s Food Truck at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground.
I seriously cannot get enough of this thing. I mean, the food is pretty great. We really enjoyed the interesting array of sandwiches here. Um, Tillamook Pork Belly Cheeseburger? YASSSS.
But the truck itself is styled after a camper, circa-1970s. And it’s AWESOME.
Rapunzel, Ariel, Flynn Rider, and Prince Eric
would like to wish you the “Best! Day! EVER!!!”
They’re all part of a new character breakfast at Trattoria al Forno, located on Disney World’s Boardwalk!
Guests can now start the day with favorite Disney couples such as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from Tangled, and Ariel and Price Eric from The Little Mermaid, because the brand new Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast has officially made its debut at Trattoria al Forno (which continues to serve classic Italian fare featuring regional specialties for dinner).
So grab your autograph books — and be sure to have your camera ready! — because some very special friends are waiting to meet you…
… at the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast! [Read more…]

HAPPY SPRING, everybody!
Another winter is behind us and the warmth and blooms of spring are here at last. So we hope you’ll take a little Spring Break with us…
… to check out What’s New Around Walt Disney World, starting with these fun new hot drink cups! While we weren’t sure about the understated design on the new cups and plates in Disney Parks, I do like these particular quotes being front and center.
We first told you the dates and details for the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic — one of our favorite food events of the year — way back in January!
This event ALWAYS gets tons of kudos from our readers!
The event, which takes place one weekend during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, is back again in 2017. Mark your calendars for Friday, October 27, and Saturday, October 28!
This event may only be two days long, but there’s a lot of wonderful eating and drinking to pack into that time.
The Food and Wine Classic offers guests informative and fun food and beverage seminars on a wide range of topics. We’ve enjoyed learning about mixology and all about Champagne in the past.
And food topics like how to make pasta are delicious and educational! To see the full list with descriptions of each, check out our Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine Classic Seminar Page.
But today, we’re excited to bring you the full menus for this year’s Causeway Event.
More than 50 Tasting Stations will be set up along the scenic Causeway between the Swan and Dolphin Resorts.
Booths will feature tasting plates from the resort’s 17 different restaurants and lounges, and more than 30 wineries from all over the world will offer pairings for the dishes. Craft breweries are also well represented, and live entertainment keeps the party going all evening long, as day fades into night. [Read more…]
Dole Whip alert! Dole Whip alert!
(Mental note: we need a secret, underground alert system for Dole Whip news.) Walt Disney World’s Art of Animation Resort, with its enormous Big Blue (Nemo-inspired) Pool and totally groovy theming, now has an alcoholic Dole Whip drink (and a non-alcoholic option!).
Yes, that sound you hear is us screaming with joy! To get one for yourself, you’re gonna have to make your way over to Art of Animation. You’ll know you’re there when you see massive depictions of animators’ sketches.
Our handy (and portable!) ebook guides make sure you get the best deals and can plan a vacation of a lifetime.
