food IS a theme park
When a fire broke out at Disneyland’s Fantasmic! in April 2023, we were sad to see the show go on hiatus.

As Disney fans, it doesn’t surprise us that Disney attractions and hotels are some of the best in the world.
Disney Imagineers are generally WAY above the competition when it comes to theming AND technology. It seems that the industry, in general, understands this, too, because Disney just recently won BIG in the Theme Park Insider awards.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again — the food in Disneyland is pretty dang good for a theme park!
From some of our favorite classic Disney treats to the occasional more creative fare, chances are almost everyone can find something to dig into at the park. We recently revisited an iconic table service restaurant that rarely disappoints — but does it still hold up after all these years? Come indulge with us at Blue Bayou and find out!
When it comes to Disney parks, things are always being changed and updated for better guest experiences.
Sometimes an attraction or dining location can close unexpectedly, but then reopen a short time later, while other times a lengthy refurbishment is what’s on the menu. Over in Disneyland, Pirates of the Caribbean has been closed for renovations, and the attached restaurant, Blue Bayou, was impacted by the closure. We weren’t too sure when we might be able to dine at this eatery again, although we had guessed it might be later this month. But now, it looks like Blue Bayou is open once again!
Disney rides, restaurants, and experiences go under refurbishment frequently to keep them in tip-top shape for guests. And, it’s important to know that just because your favorite spot is closed for a period of time, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s getting a complete overhaul — it could just need some technical fixes or a paint job!
Over in Disneyland, we’ve been keeping track of the refurbishments at Pirates of the Caribbean (where they’re completely overhauling the queue area) and it looks like one of the additional closures impacted by the refurbishment will be reopening soon! Here’s what you need to know!
Disneyland is the home of the iconic, the legendary, and the supreme Monte Cristo Sandwich. Disney World has tried (and somewhat failed) a few times to live up to its famed cheesy, greasy, and delicious reputation — though admittedly they came pretty darn close with Plaza Restaurant’s Monte Cristo for the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
There are a couple of places you’ll find the Monte Cristo Sandwich at Disneyland: most famously at Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square, as well as its dimly lit next-door neighbor, Blue Bayou Restaurant.
The Magic Key program is the new Annual Pass that recently launched at Disneyland!
Just like the old Annual Pass, this one comes with perks like exclusive merch and a special lounge. Recently, Disney announced that there will be special perks for Magic Keyholders at Disneyland’s Merriest Nites event!
There’s some big news happening in Disneyland this week!

We made it!
We’re LIVE from the opening day of Avengers Campus today but that’s not the ONLY news from Disneyland! We’ve got an update on everything new in food, construction, and merchandise at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and the Disneyland Resort hotels!
Welcome back to the Happiest Place on Earth: the Disneyland Resort! Since the theme parks reopened a month ago, we’ve been checking in on the latest construction, food, and merchandise news.
We’re back today with another update on what’s new at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney!
Disneyland reopened in late April, but not EVERY restaurant opened with the parks. Now, Blue Bayou Restaurant has REOPENED inside Disneyland’s New Orleans Square!
If you’re a frequent diner at Blue Bayou: one, lucky you! Two, the reopened restaurant looks a little different. There are additional health and safety measures as well as a major menu update: ALCOHOL! This has NEVER been allowed here before, so we were pretty excited to see what having a drink on the bayou would be like. Let’s check it out!
