Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the historic attraction that has dominated the Frontierland skyline for over 40 years, has been closed for refurbishment since January 2025. That’s finally set to end tomorrow, May 3rd! However, the version of Big Thunder that reopens tomorrow is going to be quite different than the one that closed a year and a half ago.
Tomorrow is the day we’ve been waiting for, and we can’t believe it’s finally here!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom closed in January 2025 for a massive refurbishment, and tomorrow it FINALLY reopens to the public! A year and a half is a long time to be closed, we know, but from what Disney has said, it sounds like the wait should be worth it.
We are in the era of changes at Disney World, and it continues today with a permanent store closure at Disney Springs.

On March 29th of this year, Disney Springs saw the permanent closure of the women’s apparel store, Francesca’s. Now, another clothing store was hit with a permanent closure at the Disney shopping and dining district, and it’s not ending there!
In just a few days, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is scheduled to finally reopen after over a year of being closed to get a MASSIVE update.

We have literally been counting down the days until we could take a ride on the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness, and it’s almost here! Ahead of its reopening, construction walls are FINALLY starting to come down from around the ride, and today, we finally got a good look at the ride’s entrance for the first time since construction on it started.
