Muppet*Vision 3D closed down, and Disney is already moving right along!
The walls have been put up, and Disney is now teasing us with brand-new concept art for Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc.-themed land replacing the Muppets.
Yesterday was a sad day for Muppets fans all around, as we officially said goodbye to Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
PizzeRizzo and Muppet*Vision 3D were the final two areas to close in the Grand Avenue section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we knew we needed to head back first thing this morning to see what the area looks like now. Let’s just say, it truly is the end of an era.
Well, it’s the end of an era, and we’re kinda sad about it.
We knew this day was coming, but now that it’s here, it’s even sadder. So today is the day is the last day of Muppet*Vision 3D because the entirety of Muppets Courtyard will be closing tomorrow (June 8th) so that a new Monsters, Inc. land can be constructed in its space. So we’re in Disney’s Hollywood Studios LIVE, paying our respects to this classic attraction, saying goodbye, and seeing how everyone else is doing the same.
Well, it’s really happening, and we’re having a hard time saying goodbye.
Muppets Courtyard has been slowly closing to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’ve already seen the closure of Mama Melrose’s, but on June 7th, both PizzeRizzo (okay, maybe we won’t miss the rat pizza joint) and Muppet*Vision 3D will close forever. Now, we’re going to miss Muppet*Vision 3D A LOT, even if the Muppets are eventually taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. We’re not the only ones…a Broadway star recently recorded his own tribute to Muppet*Vision 3D…and yes, it will make you laugh AND cry.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is changing a lot over the next few years, and whether Disney fans like it or not, that also includes one iconic ride.
Whether you are flying across the galaxy or dropping in for some fun on the Tower of Terror, Hollywood Studios holds a lot of adventure. There are also some BIG changes heading to this Disney park to make way for a new land and with that, Disney fans are left saying goodbye (for now) to the Muppets.
It’s the end of an era at Disney World. The phased closure of the Grand Avenue area — home of The Muppets — has begun.
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano closed its doors on May 10th, and on June 7th, both Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will permanently close as well, marking the final days of the Muppets Courtyard. While we’re dreading seeing those pesky Disney construction walls again, we are excited about bringing Monsters, Inc. to this area. But, one very lucky group will get to be the last ones to experience the area and what it still has to offer!
Well, it’s the end of an era. We’ve started to say our long goodbye to Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The area will be closing to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land, and although we’re excited about the new land, we’re sad to see this Muppets-themed part of the park go. Today, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano in Muppets Courtyard has permanently closed, and it’s already looking a little different. Let’s take a look.
Well, the end of an era is happening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The first of the Muppets Courtyard closure is underway, starting with Mama Melrose’s, followed by Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. By June 8th, the entire area will be permanently closed to make way for a new Monsters, INC. land. Well, Disney recently filed a permit for a store in the area that will soon be demolished. So, yep, it’s really happening, folks.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is in for some big changes! Imagineers will add some new and exciting things to the park, but they will also remove some things, for good.

Hollywood Studios
The changes at Hollywood Studios are already in motion, as Disney starts to prepare to build the brand-new Monsters INC. Land. However, that means out with the old and in with the new — because Muppets Courtyard is closing a lot sooner than you realize!
BIG things are happening in Disney World, which means we’re getting ready for a lot of change.
We’re already seeing big changes in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as parts of DinoLand U.S.A. have closed to start making way for Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land. Magic Kingdom will soon be closing Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America to make way for a new Cars expansion in Frontierland. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Muppets Courtyard will be closing soon to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land. That means that everything IN Muppets Courtyard will also close, including one iconic restaurant.
