Disney World has teased some seriously huge expansion plans over the past few years — and we happen to be pretty excited about it!

But, in typical Disney fashion — they’ve been keeping the details a secret. Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A. is set to be rethemed, and a Magic Kingdom expansion has been mentioned — and later confirmed. We’ve broken down the concept art and dug into some of the clues, but now, we’re uncovering all the secrets of Disney World’s new expansion plans.
One of our favorite things about the Disney parks is that they constantly evolve, adding new experiences and places to explore!

As much as we enjoy our favorite go-to attractions, restaurants, and stores around the Disney parks, there’s something extra special about checking out a brand-new addition in a place we know and love. EPCOT is in the middle of a massive transformation right now, and while we knew about a lot of the projects Disney is working on, they still have a way of surprising us with new things!
SO much is getting built over here!
Some of the transformation has already been completed, like the expansion of the France pavilion and the new flagship store in the park. But, other projects remain under construction, and seem like they will be for a while just from looking at the state of the middle of the park! Disney hadn’t even mentioned everything actually being worked on in the middle of the park…until now! So, let’s look at some BIG NEW things coming to EPCOT!

Last year, Disney announced that Mickey’s Toontown would be a getting a complete reimagining and it closed for the work soon after. We spotted some construction walls up around the area and now we have our first glimpse at the work going on INSIDE Toontown.
Have you ever seen a picture of Disney’s Hollywood Studios from the ’90s? It looked like a COMPLETELY different park (R.I.P. to the Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show, Studio Backlot Tour, and The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights). The truth is, all it takes is a few short years for Disney World to transform itself, reinvent the parks, and increase the price of a park ticket. It’s pretty wild to think about! So, that got us thinking, “What will Disney World look like in a few years?”

At the end of 2021, we learned that Mickey’s Toontown would be getting a complete reimagining, which requires the area to be completely shut down. The area officially closed on March 9th, 2022, and isn’t expected to open again until early 2023. So, we recently went by to check out the area — let’s see what it looks like right now!
