Somehow we’re already in the month of July, and it’s time to reflect on all the delicious Disney World eats we enjoyed — and the ones we didn’t like in June. 😬
We love eating in Disney World but not everything can be a winner, so we like to look back on the month to think about what worked, as well as what didn’t! Sometimes it comes down to taste, but other times it’s all about the looks. Find out our list from June right here!
The Seven Best
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Trifle — Yorkshire County Fish Shop
If you head to EPCOT, you can visit the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the U.K. Pavilion for some tasty fish and chips, but for two days in June, we got to try a new treat. The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Trifle was released to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, and it was a lemon curd swiss roll in orange jelly with custard and mandarins topped with almond biscotti for $4.59.
This was a must-eat treat! It was light and bright, with a subtle lemon flavor and a fresh taste from the mandarins. We also loved the crunchy texture from the almond biscotti! We wish it was around for longer, but maybe Disney will bring it back someday.

Rainbow of Price Cake — Landscape of Flavors, Art of Animation Resort
The Rainbow of Pride Cake released for Pride Month at a variety of Disney World hotels was a BIG surprise for us. It’s a vanilla cake roll with lemon cream cheese filling and white chocolate decor for $5.79, and it wasn’t just beautiful. It was also one of the freshest desserts we’ve had in Disney World, EVER!
The cake itself was moist and fluffy, the lemon cream cheese filling was decadent and delicious, and overall the treat wasn’t too sweet. We loved it! It was only available through June 30th, but maybe we’ll see it return for Pride Month next year!

Pride Liege Waffle — Connections Cafe
The Pride Liege Waffle was also released for Pride Month, and it’s basically a Liege Waffle covered in rainbow frosting. It’s made with fresh Brioche dough pressed in pearl sugar and baked in cast iron and it was available at Connections Cafe in EPCOT.
This waffle was fresh with a nice sugary crunch, and the frosting was a sweet addition! It was so pretty with the colors, too. It was only available through June 30th, but you can still order the plain Liege Waffle from Connections Cafe!

Mediterranean Vegetable Sandwich — Sunshine Seasons
Now available at Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT, the Mediterranean Vegetable Sandwich is made with roasted red peppers, red onions, tomatoes, arugula, hummus, and balsamic vinaigrette, served on herbed focaccia bread. It’s plant-based, and it comes with a side of potato chips.
The herbed focaccia bread is full of flavor, and the veggies had a nice, refreshing crunch. We also loved the combination of the creamy hummus with the crunchy veggies! This is a great plant-based option for $9.99.

Deviled Egg and Fried Chicken Ice Cream — Salt & Straw
For June, Salt & Straw released the flavors of Cinnamon and Honey Fried Chicken and Deviled Egg with Smoked Black Tea, and we HAD to try these unique ice creams in Disney Springs. We ordered a split scoop for $7.45 and we were pleasantly surprised by both flavors!
The Cinnamon and Honey Fried Chicken was salted vanilla ice cream churned with fresh croissant pieces deep-fried in chicken fat, and it was a delicious mix of sweet and salty.
The Deviled Egg Custard with Smoked Black Tea was made with egg yolk custard mixed with Kala Namak black salt and smoked tea-infused shortbread cookies with peach balsamic marshmallow fluff, and it was SO refreshing from the tea flavor to the peach balsamic marshmallow fluff!
These flavors were only available in June, but that just means we have more new Salt & Straw flavors to look forward to in July!

‘Ma’s Famous Strawberry Shortcake — Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
‘Ma’s Famous Strawberry Shortcake from Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue (which just reopened!) in Disney’s Fort Wilderness and Campgrounds had us OBSESSED. This treat is shortcake topped with whipped cream and strawberries, and we may have had 3 servings of it.
The cake is not a traditional strawberry shortcake, with the strawberries and syrup under the cake instead of on top, so there’s a great contrast of textures going on. The cake was moist and we also loved the whipped cream, so this is definitely a must-try!

Gumbo — House of Blues
We were a little nervous to try the Gumbo from House of Blues in Disney Springs, but it turned out to be good! This Gumbo is made with andouille sausage, chicken, onion, bell pepper, celery, and cajun rice, and it costs $8 per bowl.
First of all, the dark brown color means it’s made with a dark roux, and the rice was cooked perfectly. We also thought that the sausage and chicken had TONS of flavor, and it had a GREAT kick! If you’re into Gumbo and spice, you might want to give this a try.

The Four Worst
Pride Cupcake — Disney’s Animal Kingdom
From a variety of locations in Animal Kingdom, we found a Pride Cupcake made with Confetti vanilla cake, cotton candy mousse, vanilla buttercream, and a zebra rainbow-print white chocolate Mickey for $5.99. While the cake was moist, the rest of this cupcake was just meh.
The cotton candy mousse filling was dense and had a texture that reminded us of Play-Doh, and it didn’t have much flavor, so it kind of ruined the cupcake. It was only available through June 30th, so you might not get to experience this cupcake until next year!

Stitch Dome Cake — Kona Island Coffee & Sushi at Disney’s Polynesian Resort
On June 26th, we celebrated Stitch Day (626…get it?) with the return of the Stitch Dome Cake from Kona Island Coffee & Sushi at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Last year, it was a really cute royal blue cake, but this year was a bit different, as you can see. A Cast Member told us it was a chocolate cake on a sugar cookie base with a blue, chocolate ganache, but he was droopy and lumpy, sadly.
We also couldn’t taste the chocolate, and we thought the ganache was grainy and tasted more like food coloring. The black molding chocolate reminded us of Play-Doh, too. It was only available for one weekend for $5.99, but maybe next year it will be improved!

Zurg Freeze — Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies
In honor of the release of Lightyear, the Zurg Freeze was released at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Magic Kingdom, and it was made with black currant slush, strawberry dole whip, and boba pearls for $6.49.
While this treat was cold and refreshing and we appreciated that it wasn’t overly sweet, the strawberry Dole Whip reminded us of bubblegum, and the black currant taste was SUPER tart. Overall, we just thought the flavors didn’t mix together well.

Lightyear Ice Cream Cone — Swirls on the Water
And another Lightyear-inspired treat, the Buzz Lightyear Cone from Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs was an…interesting experience. It was made with purple cheesecake soft-serve served in a green cone with white chocolate Buzz wings for $5.49, and it was available through June 30th.
The taste itself was refreshing but it didn’t look much like the original image Disney advertised. It also melted SUPER fast and stained our hands purple! So while we didn’t hate the flavors, we didn’t really love the look. Or our purple hands.
Here’s our review of the Buzz Lightyear Cone!

Although I would pass on the rainbow treats because of all of the food coloring, they still look more appetizing than than the items you named as the losers!
