This August, guests may choose to attend an after hours, extra-ticketed event: “The Haunted Mansion: Celebrating 50 Years of Retirement Unliving” will be offered on August 7th and August 8th (and into the wee hours of the next morning for each event). Commemorative anniversary merchandise items, spirited sips and bites, special entertainment, character encounters, photo ops, and access to several west-side park attractions (and some “supernatural surprises”) will make up the special event. Disneyland Park’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in a matter of days
, and last evening, Disneyland President Josh D’Amaro shared a picture on his Instagram that is blowing. our. minds. It’s a sea of “inhabitants of Batuu” gathered for a cast member rally in Galaxy’s Edge, and it’s EPIC!

In the image we see hundreds of cast members in costumes designed to help them set the stage as Citizens of Batuu. (Click here to see Galaxy’s Edge costumes up close!) In the background: the impressive Millennium Falcon showcased in the land’s first major attraction Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Further back, we spy a delivery shuttle on the top of the land’s fast casual dining spot Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. The skyline of Black Spire Outpost features jagged rock outcroppings, while buildings show the wear-and-tear of galactic life.
Yeah, we want to go to there. 😉
We’re shopping to see What’s New at Disneyland Resort today, where we found tons of fun merchandise — particularly all that Toy Story 4 merch we showed you recently at Walt Disney World! But the toys aren’t the only ones having a blast in the Disneyland toy box because there’s more Americana merchandise, a few other character apparel and toy items, and SNACK FANS.
But first…. Sleeping Beauty Castle has awoken from her slumber behind the tarps, and this castle is a beauty indeed!

As we inch closer to the grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in just TEN DAYS, Disney is releasing information to help us know what to expect when we visit Batuu for the first time. And today, Disney Parks Blog announced the pricing for the high-end, customizable lightsabers guests can purchase at Savi’s Workshop — Handbuilt Lightsabers!

The required, no-cost reservations to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in its opening weeks in Disneyland (from May 31 – June 23) are completely booked for the general public. So, if you’re hoping to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but you don’t have a reservation during the window, you’ll have to wait until reservations are no longer needed starting June 24th. (You can find out how the virtual queue will work for gaining access to the land starting that day here.)

But let’s say you don’t want to miss out entirely on the opening day fun, and perhaps you’d like a memento to say “I Was There” in Disneyland on opening day of Galaxy’s Edge…. well, as it turns out, Disney has announced that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening Day dated merchandise, including Annual Passholder items will be available — only while supplies last — outside of Galaxy’s Edge! The Play Disney Parks app will give guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge the chance to interact with the land in truly unique ways. It will, in essence, be converted into your very own Star Wars datapad once you set foot on the planet Batuu.
