Annual traditions have long been a major part of the Disney World experience. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, The Candlelight Processional… the list of beloved seasonal offerings goes on and on. However, there’s a recent Disney annual “tradition” that fans have begun to dread: Price hikes.

Over the last several years, price increases — including for Disney World Annual Passes — have hit the resort each October, and they could be coming back again this year.
It’s no secret that MagicBands have become an integral part of Walt Disney World vacations over the last decade+. They can serve as room keys, payment methods, entry tickets, be used to check-in for Lightning Lanes, connect with Photopass, and react to select Disney theme park attractions with “lighting effects and gesture recognition”, and they’re available in a slew of cool designs!

Universal Mardi Gras features live concerts, delicious food, and a festive parade that you won’t want to miss. The Mardi Gras parade is always such a fun time, with colorful floats, elaborate costumes, catchy music, and LOTS of bead necklaces. Each float in the parade has people on it throwing beads into the crowds — and you can be the one throwing the beads from the float!

2025 was quite a year for Universal Orlando, as the resort opened one of the largest single expansions in its history with the opening of the Epic Universe theme park, as well as three hotels surrounding the new park. However, even as the resort has ironed out many of the kinks that come with a new theme park, from transportation to wait times to crowd flow issues and more, one question has remained unresolved: What’s going on with annual passes?
Universal Orlando Annual Pass
In my 30+ years visiting Universal Orlando, I’ve seen the resort grow from a single theme park — and a guitar-shaped Hard Rock Cafe — into the massive three-park/multi-hotel/sprawling CityWalk destination it is now. Right along with the growth has come more and more fans, including a large and dedicated group of Annual Passholders… many of whom are currently perplexed.
It’s been over 4 decades since Walt Disney World introduced Annual Passes, and yet a major perk of the program is STILL missing from the resort.

Walt Disney World first introduced the Annual Pass — then known by the full “Annual Passport” name — ticket options back in September of 1982. These passes — part of the company’s overall transition from general admission tickets and ticket books to “all-in” tickets, which covered park entry and ride access — initially offered a year of entry to the Magic Kingdom and the then-brand-new EPCOT Center for $100 for adults, $93 for juniors (yes, there was a “pre-teen” category for tickets back then), and $80 for children (3-11). Suffice to say, over the years, prices have gone up, but so have the number of perks available to APs. However, one popular benefit available at the Disneyland Resort has yet to make it over to the East Coast in the 30+ years I’ve been visiting “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”
