The closure of the Orlando International Airport comes ahead of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to make landfall early Thursday morning. Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall on the west coast of Florida and move through the Central Florida area.
BREAKING: Disney World EXTENDS New Hotel Cancelation Policy Ahead of Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton is getting closer to Florida. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is currently predicting the hurricane to make landfall early Thursday morning, but wind and rain is expected to arrive ahead of its landfall.
The NHC is expecting heavy rainfall and the potential for hurricane-force winds in the Central Florida and Disney World area. Disney World just provided an update about their change and cancelation fees.
BREAKING: Disney World to CLOSE Select Hotels Ahead of Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton is on its way to Florida.
The hurricane is currently a category 5 hurricane but is expected to make landfall as category 3 on Wednesday, October 9th. Its path is likely to cross over the Orlando and Disney World areas, and they are currently in a hurricane warning. Due to that, Disney World has officially announced a few closures at the resort.
UPDATE: Two Hotel Food Courts Remain Partially CLOSED This Week in Disney World
Last week, on September 29th, Everything Pop Food Court at Disney’s Pop Century Resort was supposed to end its refurbishment.
However, Disney has delayed this food court reopening until later this year. This is not the only hotel food court that has had its refurbishment delayed. So, these two quick service restaurants will continue to be closed along with several other attractions, restaurants, and more around Disney World the week of October 5th through October 12th.
We Were Evacuated from TWO Disney World Rides in One Day 😱
Not EVERY day in Disney World can be perfect, and that’s fine.
Sometimes, the weather just won’t behave. It can be too hot, too cold (YES, it happens), or it could be rainy (especially during hurricane season). Sometimes, rides close due to weather. Sometimes, rides just close for other reasons. Sometimes, you’re ON a ride when it closes, and you have to be evacuated from that ride. Well, that happened to us recently on two different rides ON THE SAME DAY.
A Disney World Restaurant Reopens This Week After Lengthy Refurbishment
Two Disney World hotel restaurants have been closed for extended refurbishment.
The World Premiere Food Court at All-Stars Movies Resort closed on July 1st and was supposed to open later in July; however, the refurbishment was pushed until mid-October. The Everything Pop Shopping and Dining food court closed on July 29th and is set to open this week! As you wander around Disney World this week, be prepared for a few other closures that will affect your vacation.
NEWS: Universal Orlando Cancels Halloween Horror Nights For Tonight Ahead of Hurricane
Hurricane Helene is expected to make landfall in Florida later this evening, and we’ve been following updates as the storm progresses.
As the Hurricane continues to grow and get closer, Disney World recently announced the closure of Typhoon Lagoon on Thursday (today), as well as the cancellation of tonight’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It seems Universal Orlando is following suit and has also announced a cancellation and closure of its own ahead of the hurricane making landfall.
ALERT: Disney World Announces Hotel Pool Closure for 2026
If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’ve GOT to check out that refurbishment calendar.
If there’s a ride or attraction that you’re really hoping to visit, then you’ll definitely want to check the park hours and the attraction hours ahead of time, just in case the ride is closed for maintenance during your trip. But did you know that the same can go for other offerings in Disney World, like restaurants, hotel lobbies, or pools?
Two Classic Disney Rides Are Temporarily CLOSED for Refurbishment
Several rides and attractions have been closing for refurbishment in Disney World, but it’s not the only Disney resort to experience these closures.
Over at Disneyland, you’ll find a lot of similar rides as in Disney World especially classics like “it’s a small world,” the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and others. As the original Disney park, it’s visited every day by many visitors who come to experience the Happiest Place on Earth. However, starting today, September 16th, two of the classic Disney rides will be closing for refurbishment.
Wait. Did We Find an Unfortunate Side Effect of the Jungle Cruise Closure in Magic Kingdom?
The Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom has been undergoing refurbishment since August 26th.
While specifics about the refurbishment are unknown, we do know that the ride will be closed until mid-October. It’s not uncommon for rides to close for refurbishment in Disney World. It’s how Disney is able to maintain its rides to ensure they work properly for many years to come. What is odd about this refurbishment, though, is the strange side effect it seemed to have caused in another area of Adventureland.
