When the announcement was made, Disneyland President Ken Potrock said that new membership offerings were in development that would provide, “choice, flexibility, and value for our biggest fans.” Recent comments from Disney executives indicate that these new membership options could be close to making their debut.
Many things at Disney Parks are returning to pre-closure normals. We’ve seen the end of temperature checks at both Disney World and Disneyland, and we’ve seen both parks end mask requirements for fully-vaccinated guests.

We’re even seeing the return of fireworks to Disney World and Disneyland soon. But there might be one post-closure change that will stick around for a while.

One such item that comes to mind is the lightsaber. An “elegant weapon for a more civilized age,” as Obi-Wan Kenobi would say. These energy swords are the chosen weapon of those who have a connection to the Force in Star Wars and boy, are they cool or what? We’ve been able to make (toy) lightsabers in the Disney parks since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened and we can sometimes snag lightsabers online — but what about that REAL lightsaber that Disney made?

Not only did we learn that the hotel will have a delayed launch but we also learned a LOT of new details — including news about Disney’s REAL LIGHTSABER.

Today, at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) expo, Josh D’Amaro shared several updates on a number of ongoing and upcoming projects for Disney parks around the world.

As the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, D’Amaro had a LOT to discuss in his presentation, and we got a chance to get more insight into what the company’s plans are for moving forward following the pandemic. He talked about several new attractions, hotels, and restaurants, but he also briefly discussed something that thoroughly excites us: plans for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary!
