There are so many new things to check out!
We’ve seen new Lightning Lane signs, the Disney Fab 50 character statues, 50th Anniversary decorations, new merchandise, and so much more. Want to know what you missed if you haven’t stopped by in a few days? Here’s everything that’s new in Magic Kingdom!
Disney’s Fastpass+ service is no longer in place, but there’s a NEW Fastpass+ replacement coming soon to Disney World called Disney Genie+. If you miss strolling through the Fastpass line to board your favorite attraction, you might be interested in paying for Disney Genie+, which will give guests access to over 40 attractions in Disney World.

As we wait for Disney Genie to take over, we’ve been keeping our eyes out for new Lightning Lane signage around the parks. We put together a handy little list of ALL the Disney attractions that will use Lightning Lanes (AKA the old Fastpass lane).

We’ve seen Rise of the Resistance open to guests without a boarding group very rarely, but other than that boarding groups have generally been required. Soon, however, things will be changing. How will these upcoming changes potentially impact the situation with the NEW, paid FastPass-like systems Disney will be rolling out soon? Here are our thoughts.
Disney recently introduced a new system to replace the FastPass+ program in Disney World — Genie+. This will be the new way to essentially skip the standby lines on rides around the parks.

However, now, you can only have a reservation for one ride at a time (compared to the previous 3), and you have to pay to use this feature (which used to be free). Genie+ will be $15 per person, per day and you will now use the Lightning Lane to enter rides instead of the FastPass+ lane. Select high demand rides will not be a part of Genie+, but you will be able to buy access to their Lightning Lanes individually. We’ve seen several Lightning Lane signs go up around the parks over the past week, and we just spotted another new one in Hollywood Studios!

As Disney World’s 50th Anniversary approaches, we’re seeing more and more updates in the park! We stopped by the park recently to see what other new things we could spot. Let’s go over everything new in Magic Kingdom.
A new system is taking over FastPass+ in Disney World soon — Disney Genie+!

The system is part of the new Disney Genie program that will be in the My Disney Experience app. Genie (the trip planning system) is free, but you have to pay $15 per day, per ticket to use Genie+ (the new, paid FastPass-like system). The paid system lets you select return times to use the new Lighting Lanes at rides around Disney World, which will allow you to skip the majority of the stand-by lines. We just saw a few Lightning Lane signs go up in Magic Kingdom, and now, we’ve found some in EPCOT!

It’s part of the new Disney Genie program coming to My Disney Experience that will help plan your days in the parks! While Genie (the planning service) is free, Genie+ (the paid FastPass replacement service) is not — Genie+ will cost $15 per day, per ticket. The Genie+ system will let you enter through the new Lightning Lanes (the new name for the old FastPass+ lanes) at select attractions. While we don’t know exactly when the system will go into effect, some new additions in Magic Kingdom are making us think it might be soon!
