Yesterday we were back in Magic Kingdom, and now we’re here to share what’s new!
We have a few construction updates and some brand-new merchandise. We even spotted some characters! Let’s dive right in.
If you’ve been to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World recently, you might have noticed that the Rivers of America has been drained for some time.
Currently Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat are listed on the refurb calendar through Feb. 28. And today, we did see active construction on the island while we were at Magic Kingdom!
Construction is happening ALL over Disney World!
We have so many exciting projects to look forward to including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. And on our latest visit to Magic Kingdom, we noticed some MAJOR progress to the upcoming TRON Lightcycle Run!
Disney World is constantly preparing for their 50th anniversary coming up in October of 2021.
We’ve seen several upcoming attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and TRON Lightcycle Run, and many places are getting a FULL makeover like the Walt Disney World entrance and EPCOT. If you’re headed to the Haunted Mansion today in honor of the spooky holiday, you might notice something a little strange along the way. We recently noticed that the water level of the Rivers of America was lower than normal — but now, it’s completely drained!
There are lots of exciting attractions coming to Disney World in the next few years and one of the ones we’re most pumped for is TRON Lightcycle Run.
Every time we’re in Magic Kingdom (which is a lot), we swing over to Tomorrowland to take a gander at the upcoming TRON Lightcycle Run coaster. Though much of the attraction is inside, we ARE able to see changes outside of the building!
There’s nothing quite like the drive up to Magic Kingdom.

We’re super excited for the day we finally get to take our first ride on TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom!
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the progress we can see from the ground while we’re visiting the park. And now, we’re checking in with another update on how the TRON construction is moving along!
Between new attractions, restaurants, the Epcot Transformation, and prep for the 50th anniversary in 2021, Disney World has a ton of construction projects in the works.
When we first found out that Disney World was closing its gates, we wondered if Disney would use the time to make some serious progress on all of those projects. But we soon learned that wouldn’t be happening. Based on government recommendations, Disney decided to halt all construction projects.
