Welcome to another roundup of What’s New in Disneyland Resort!
Today, we’ll chat about new treats, construction updates, and some spooktacular new Minnie ears!
Both Disneyland Resort and Disney World have really been stepping up their game in terms of Mobile Order options lately.
In Disney World, we have seen the addition of all of the All-Star Resort dining locations, and Disneyland Resort has recently added locations like the Mint Julep Bar, Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats, and more! And now, we’re happy to share with you that you can now Mobile Order at The Golden Horseshoe!
We’ve been having all sorts of Toy Story-themed fun in Walt Disney World in celebration of Toy Story 4 coming to theaters on June 21st! And today we’re turning our focus to the west coast, where the Toy Story gang is also in full force! For instance…

We are eating our way around the Disneyland Resort and enjoying the Halloween Time treats and specials! Our next stop is The Golden Horseshoe for a Churro Sundae!
The Golden Horseshoe is offering a Churro Sundae and is home to the Poison Apple Stein this season!
We’re suckers for original Disneyland locales, and The Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland is one of those that totally steals our hearts. A mainstay of the park since day one, there’s plenty of lore about this now-quick service spot, including the presence of Walt’s personal box — at the right-most corner of the restaurant’s balcony — which is now open to the public.
Howdy, pardners! It’s time to join our intrepid Disneyland correspondent Heather (check her out @DiningInDisney!) and revisit a couple of our old haunts in Disneyland’s Frontierland: Golden Horseshoe and Stage Door Cafe!
It’s (almost) Halloween Time again at Disneyland Resort!
And you know what that means… ghoulish goodies and creepy confections will be haunting the parks! From September 15th all the way through the big day — October 31st! — keep an eye out for all the extra spooky selections!
You’ll be able to scare up treats just about anywhere you go! Candy Kitchens such as the Candy Palace in Disneyland and Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure will bring back the Jack Skellington Apple!
Jack couldn’t resist bringing along a couple of his pals… the classic Minnie Witch Apple and the Poison Skull Apple. [Read more…]

Have you heard? The nighttime spectacular Fantasmic! returns to Disneyland on July 17th! And there will be plenty of special snacks on hand to celebrate the occasion.
Look around New Orleans Square, Frontierland, and Critter Country for the following treats.
Churros, Churros everywhere! Find the following flavors out and about… the Churro Cart in Critter Country will serve S’mores Churros (a graham cracker churro with chocolate and marshmallow dipping sauce), and the Churro Carts in Frontierland and New Orleans Square will offer Sour Watermelon Churros.

Have a hankerin’ for some Ice Cream Nachos?!?
Of course you do! I mean, really… who doesn’t? But where can a Disneyland guest score some, since they’re not showing up on any menus these days? Well, just like days of yore, you CAN still grab them — at least for now — at The Golden Horseshoe.
You see, all the components of the ice cream nachos are still in the house: mint chocolate chip, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream along with hot fudge, strawberry sauce, chocolate chips, whipped cream and cherries served together on a bed of waffle “chips”… all courtesy of the three Waffle Cup Sundaes that remain on the everyday menu. You want history, my fellow Disney-loving friends? Well, then, you’re going to love what we have in store for you today.
That’s right, we’re taking another trip to Disneyland for a rip-roarin’ good time at one of our favorite Old West saloons — The Golden Horseshoe!
This place has it all — Disney pedigree, a hilarious show, and signature menu items.
If you haven’t been there before, I have a feeling it will be on your Disney Bucket List once we’re finished talking about this time-honored spot in Disney’s original theme park.
Let’s check it out!
Head up Main Street USA towards Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and hang a left at the hub. You’ll find The Golden Horseshoe centrally located in Frontierland, appropriately.
One of the most interesting bits of trivia about this spot is that it was one of the original fixtures when the park opened waaaaaayyy back in 1955.
In fact, Walt and his wife, Lillian, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a private party here just days before the park opened to the public.
(Check out Heather’s post about a cool Limited Time Magic event earlier this year, which included a dessert with a picture from that famous night!)
The boardwalk outside touts Ice Cream Sundaes and more as you anticipate heading inside… .
Enter into the saloon-themed counter service spot and take in all the details. The restaurant was designed by Harper Goff, and if it seems familiar, then you must be an old film buff — it’s based upon a set design that Goff used in the the 1953 western comedy musical Calamity Jane, starring Doris Day. (See? Reading DFB is not only a treat for the eyes, it’s a learning experience, too! ;-D You’re SMARTER than you were when you started reading!)
Two levels of seating provide you lots of options for taking in the show. You’ll also notice some “box seats” situated closer to the stage. Walt himself kept the one on the right for viewing the show anytime time he wanted to, as this was a favorite spot of his. The boxes are open to the public now.
Rich details surround you, and actually, the feeling is pretty [Read more…]
