If you’re reading this blog, we’re willing to bet that one of your favorite vacations is Disney World. The nostalgic atmosphere, characters, roller coasters, dining, and more make Disney World one of the top destinations in the world. But all of that doesn’t come cheap – and if you’ve been following our blog for a while, you know that the prices just keep increasing.

As much as we love to visit Disney World, sometimes that price has us hesitating. So what should you do when you love Disney but your budget is screaming at you to PLEASE choose a different destination? Here are 10 GREAT places to vacation when your budget won’t do Disney.
This week Disney World, SeaWorld, and Universal Orlando had to close their theme parks due to Hurricane Ian.
Universal Orlando
We have been tracking the hurricane to make sure that you have the most up-to-date information on the storm and how it might impact your trip to Disney World. Today, Disney World shared a phased reopening and SeaWorld shared that they would remain closed until Saturday, October 1. Now, we have an update from Universal Orlando.
Hurricane Ian is headed toward Florida and the state has been seeing closures, evacuations, and is under a state of emergency.

We’ve already seen some closures in Disney World, and the Orlando airports are closing as well, and now we have an update on some of the other attractions in the Orlando area.
We heard a ton of big news at this year’s D23 Expo, including an opening timeline for TRON: Lightcycle Run, a possible expansion for Magic Kingdom, and a potential overhaul of DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But there was one very important thing MISSING from most of Disney’s announcements.

Face masks are still required indoors at Disney World
Travel restrictions have been updated, mask requirements are going away in some places, and many flights have been canceled due to the surge in cases from the Omicron variant. Face mask requirements changed at the end of last year for Universal Orlando Resort, and they are now changing again.
Universal’s Epic Universe is an upcoming theme park that will become the third park at Universal Orlando.

Epic Universe was originally going to open in 2023, but construction was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic. The new opening date was slated for sometime in 2025, but now we have more details about the opening timeline. [Read more…]
