This spring, Wine Bar George is set to open in Disney Springs, and we’ve got some scoop for all of you wine lovers out there who are eagerly awaiting news on this upcoming spot!
As you may already know, Master Sommelier George Miliotes was a member of the opening team at the Contemporary Resort’s California Grill, then managed the signature restaurant from 1995 to 2002. There, he worked with Ron Rupert, who was also a member of the opening team and has just been announced as the Executive Chef for Wine Bar George!
We’ve just got to say it one more time… Happy New Year! Because today we’re back with another DFB Video, and we’re letting you know about 15 new Disney restaurants to try in 2018!
You read that right… FIFTEEN!! A few of these locations opened in late 2017, such as BaseLine Tap House in Hollywood Studios and the Ale & Compass Restaurant, so you can enjoy them right now. But many are still to come, like Jaleo, Terralina Crafted Italian, and the VERY soon-to-open Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar. And that’s just scratching the surface, because there is a lot more to look forward to in the new year. And we’d love to hear which new addition you’re most excited about! [Read more…]
Disney Springs: So many restaurants! So many seasonal treats! So much… construction.
Let’s see what’s new this week!
Coming to Disney Springs
The building that was formerly Disney Quest is completely gone, leaving room for the construction of the NBA Experience! Here’s some NBA Experience concept art for those wanting a sneak peek of what’s to come. (I see a “Grill” in our future…)
Disney Springs is home to quite a few great restaurants including Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Florida Kitchen and Morimoto Asia. And by the end of 2018 it’ll be home to five new dining concepts! AAAH!
Two new restaurants will be opening in 2018, including Jaleo, a Spanish restaurant from Chef José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup. Jaleo will “feature an extensive menu of tapas that reflect the rich regional diversity of traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine, such as paella cooked over a wood fire, hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota, and wood-grilled Iberico pork.”
Wine Bar George has been a long time coming.
Rumors started swirling in late 2015 around a new wine bar headed by Master Sommelier George Miliotes coming to Disney Springs. The rumor was officially confirmed at the Party for the Senses (an Epcot Food and Wine Festival Special Event) last fall.
Slated for a late 2017 opening, groundbreaking took place in December of 2016, and the walls surrounding the construction site (located just across the way from Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and next to Raglan Road’s Hole in the Wall Bar) were covered with a display of the concept art for the space’s exterior. Morimoto Asia is — like the rest of us — very excited about Wine Bar George, which is coming soon to Disney Springs. In fact, they are so excited that they’ve partnered with Master Sommelier George Miliotes for a ‘Wok and Wines’ Pairing Dinner!
The Wok and Wines Pairing Dinner features a menu created by Morimoto Asia’s Executive Chef Yuhi Fujinaga, showcasing modern Pan-Asian cuisine. And Miliotes — one of only 230 Master Sommeliers in the world — will pair each course with wines that will be served at Wine Bar George when it opens later this year. [Read more…]
Happy New Year, Friends!

I hope that your 2017 is off to an excellent start and that you’re planning your next trip to Disney Parks for sometime this year!
As has been the case for the last few years, Disney has promised some big doin’s coming our way during the calendar year.
And oh, well, sure. The entire universe is poised on the edge of its collective seat, awaiting some indication of when Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land will spring to life. BUT — even though we really don’t expect to hear of openings on those fronts in 2017, there’s still PLENTY to look forward to!
Last month we shared the exciting news that Wine Bar George was confirmed for Disney Springs, and a while back a groundbreaking was held for the new wine bar.
Wine Bar George will be headed by Master Sommelier George Miliotes — one of only 230 Master Sommeliers in the world — and will be located across from Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and next to Raglan Road’s Hole in the Wall.
The 210-seat wine bar will be built to resemble a winemaker’s home estate, and the featured wines will represent established wineries as well as “up-and-coming growing regions and wineries.” Wine Bar George will also serve small plates, with 7-12 items on the menu.
At Wednesday’s groundbreaking the Master Sommelier even took part in the inaugural champagne sabering!
In addition to enjoying wines and small plates, guests at Wine Bar George can also expect special events featuring visits from renowned winemakers.
Wine Bar George is slated to open in the fall of 2017.
