Special Eats and Treats for Disneyland’s 24 Hour Diamond Anniversary Celebration

Are YOU kicking off the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration by spending a FULL 24 HOURS with Mickey and the gang in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure?!

That’s right! The eagerly anticipated Diamond Anniversary Celebration officially begins this Friday, May 22nd, at 6 am — the same day Walt Disney World launches the “Coolest Summer Ever” with Magic Kingdom’s 24 hour day. Now, 24 hours may seem like a LOT of time… but when you see all the special treats created just for the occasion, you may find that 24 hours isn’t nearly enough!

And we would love it if YOU would help us all join in the fun! Are you attending the 24-hour celebration on either coast? If so, please feel welcome to send us any and all pictures — be they of food or just plain FUN — from your experience! Just let us know how you’d like to be credited on your pictures, and we’ll do our best to include as many as possible in our ongoing coverage this Friday! You can send pictures to us on twitter, Facebook, email us at webmaster@disneyfoodblog.com, or @ us on instagram!

And now… back to the FOOD!! Special dishes and snacks will abound in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure throughout the celebration.

World of Color Dining Packages

Don’t forget that World of Color Dining Packages are available for the new “World of Color — Celebrate!” show. Unique to the 24-hour event are 2-course, prix fixe breakfast packages available from midnight to 1:45 am on May 23rd at Ariel’s Grotto (as a non-character meal) and Wine Country Trattoria, offering reserved viewing for a special 3 am World of Color show.

Carthay Circle Restaurant Update: Food Pictures and Reservations Available

The Carthay Circle Restaurant will be opening in Disney California Adventure on June 15th, 2012, and you can now make reservations!

And, remember — guests dining at Carthay Circle Restaurant are eligible for complimentary, center-stage viewing for “World of Color.” See details at the end of the post!

The story of the restaurant is set in 1937, on the evening “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” premiered at Carthay Circle Theater! The menu will reflect this time period — with a modern twist, of course! You can see some gorgeous photos of the outside of the restaurant here.

Developed by Executive Chef Andrew Sutton from Napa Rose, and executed by Chef de Cuisine Gloria Tae — also from Napa Rose — the menu will reflect seasonal flavors and Southern California cuisine.

Carthay Circle Lounge

What I love is that there will be, essentially, two public dining options at Carthay Circle: a Carthay Circle Lounge downstairs, serving quick meals, shared plates, wine, craft beer, or handcrafted seltzer sodas with muddled fruit; and the larger restaurant upstairs, which will be taking reservations.

This way, if you just need a bite to eat but would like to relax in a more upscale environment (or if junior has finally decided to nap and you need to be somewhere somewhat quiet and air conditioned for a while), you can simply walk into the Carthay Circle Lounge for tapas and a great drink.

The Lounge menu is divided into Bites, Rolls, Snacks, Small Plates, and Finger Desserts, served in a place to “relax, share and have fun,” Chef Sutton says. Tastes range from hot shrimp with a chilled spicy tomato shooter to duck confit sliders with apricot conserve, watercress, crisp onions, and Taleggio cheese.

If you’d like a longer, larger meal, plan on heading upstairs to the Restaurant!

And you can take a peek at the decor of the restaurant here. It’s upscale, yet still comfortable.

But guests will definitely be made to feel special: “Upon arrival, guests are greeted downstairs and escorted up the graceful staircase or by elevator to the restaurant,” says Joy Cushing, restaurant manager. Wow; sounds very [Read more…]

Guest Review: Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining Package

Today, guest blogger Shayne Newell, author of Shayne’s Project 365, is back with a review (and some gorgeous photos) from her recent Wine Country Trattoria World of Color (WOC) Dining Package meal! Take it away, Shayne!

Like the previously reviewed World of Color Dining Package meal at Ariel’s Grotto, the Wine Country Trattoria package meal is a fixed-price, limited menu that can be reserved up to 30 days in advance.

Atmosphere and Menu
It was pretty hot the day we went (Saturday, 9/4/10), so we were happy to be seated in the upstairs portion of the restaurant, where it was under cover and cool; we still had a nice view of the park. Everyone on the upper level seemed to be ordering from the WOC menu, so perhaps they segregated the WOC diners from those ordering off of the regular menu? On both the adult and kids’ menu, the appetizer/salad course and the dessert course were pre-determined, but each diner could choose their entree from [Read more…]
