If you’ve ever packed for a January trip, whether you’re visiting family or heading on vacation, there are some things you will be thankful you brought with you. Luckily, we’ve found a few Amazon gems that have made our winter travel so much smoother, quieter, and more organized.
Well, we’ve got some rough flying news for you — there’s really no other way to put it.
American Airlines Planes
Lots has changed with flying this year — not only with going through security with TSA, but also at certain airports, and some airlines themselves have changed certain aspects of flying for their passengers. However, now there’s another change taking place, this time from American Airlines, and we can already tell it’s not going to be popular. Now, American Airlines passengers will not earn ANY miles or other rewards when they book a Basic Economy flight.
January sounds like the perfect time to visit Disney World until you realize how many little surprises come with it.

Yes, the weather is cooler, and the crowds are usually lighter, but January has its own set of planning challenges that can catch even experienced Disney fans off guard. If you are heading to Disney World in January 2026, there are a few key things you’re going to want to know ahead of time. Knowing these now can help you avoid frustration and set more realistic expectations once you are in the parks.
Something you may not know about Disney World is that before they can do ANYTHING construction-wise (and we do pretty much mean anything), they have to file a permit to ensure it’s approved and all done properly.

This goes for the hotels, parks, Disney Springs, and everything in between, and the best part is that those permits are available to the public to see! They’re a little tricky to find, but we’re always on the lookout for new ones, and this time, our search turned up not one permit, but TWO. Yes, that means that in addition to all the construction currently happening around the resort, there will soon be even more.
Magic Kingdom is full of construction right now, and honestly? That won’t be changing any time soon!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will both be reopening after their refurbishments next year, but as for Piston Peak (replacing Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America) and Villains Land (behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad)? Yeah, those are still pretty far off in the future. However, it looks like there’s a lot happening behind the walls over at Piston Peak, because a WHOLE ton of dirt has been moved around!

Although things are usually pretty quiet in Disney World, at least when it comes to food and drinks, this week has seen a few updates that we’ve already checked out. First, a brand new snack stand opened on Disney’s BoardWalk (and yes, we tried out some snacks). Then, Garden House reopened in the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT. We also got to try some new menu items over at Martha’s Vineyard at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.

In the meantime, though, we also spotted some other changes on Disney World restaurant menus (so much for quiet, huh?). So we’re sharing those changes with you, so you don’t get caught by surprise during your next visit.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Disney World wait times have a reputation for being, well, unpredictable. Sure, we can look at past data to get an estimate of the crowd levels in Disney World, but you never know what may happen from year to year. This year, for example, wait times for late October were low, then JUMPED in early November. As we get closer and closer to Christmas, we expect those wait times to increase even more. Is this the calm before the storm?
