One of Walt Disney World’s most popular restaurants is about to close for a months-long closure right in the middle of the busy summer season.

As part of a larger refurbishment project at the Yacht Club, two of the resort’s most popular restaurants — Yachtsman Steakhouse and its connected Crew’s Cup Lounge — are both closing for months-long closure this year.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of those hotels where people don’t just book a room. They book a fantasy. A monorail fantasy. A Dole Whip fantasy. A “watching Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach while pretending your inbox doesn’t exist” fantasy. A “yes, this lobby smells expensive and I support that” fantasy.

But here’s the catch: the Polynesian is big. Not “oops, wrong hallway” big. More like “why does my room feel like it’s in a different ZIP code from Capt. Cook’s?” big. And when you’re paying Deluxe Resort prices, your room location matters. Because there is a very real difference between “quick stroll to the monorail” and “begin the ceremonial migration to breakfast.”
We’re still about a year away from the opening of Disney World’s newest hotel, Lakeshore Lodge, as it’s expected to open in summer 2027, but we recently got invited to a media event that gave us a NEW look at the hotel, thanks to concept art and a boat tour around the construction site.

We’ve seen firsthand how much a project can change from what concept art originally shows, so don’t get us wrong, we’re not expecting EVERYTHING in here to make it to the final product, but it does give us an idea of what Disney’s setting its sights on. Based on what we’re seeing, this hotel may be the pinnacle of relaxation, but there are a few things we’re still left a little confused by.

And if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland, specifically the Disneyland Hotel, there are two upcoming closures you need to know about.
Thanks to a litany of discounted deals and a slew of new perks, including the return of free water park tickets, character appearances, and others associated with the Cool Kids’ Summer promotion, Disney World’s on-property hotels are looking to be crowded this summer.

However, those crowds are set to encounter various levels of construction and refurbishment across many of Disney’s most popular resorts.

That’s right, this week is FINALLY the time when one of Magic Kingdom‘s most popular attractions reopens for visitors. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen its doors to the public on May 3rd, and we couldn’t be more excited. The best part? That’s not the ONLY ride that took some big steps forward this week!
