No, we’re not talking about Mardi Gras (though, we do love that celebration too!) — we’re talking about Butterbeer Season! Yes, this does exist, and each year, we get to see special offerings in the Universal Parks all over the world to celebrate this beloved, iconic drink. If you’re visiting Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, or Universal Beijing Resort from March 1st through May 31st (or Universal Studios Japan from April 1st through May 17th), here’s what you can’t miss!

If you love going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando, you have probably fallen in love with the sweetest of beverages, good old butterbeer.

However, you might also know that there is only one way in Orlando to get that butterbeer — and it’s by visiting one of the three Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands (including the one in Epic Universe). That means if you want to enjoy that sweet nectar preferred by witches and wizards, you need a Universal Orlando park ticket. Well, we’ve got BIG news — NOT ANYMORE. There is SO much to explore at Universal’s brand-new theme park, Epic Universe. With five themed lands, there is no shortage of attractions, shops, and restaurants to discover.

Review: Starbucks Smoked Butterscotch Latte and Frappuccino… vs. Butterbeer™

There has been a LOT of hype over the latest specialty beverages to arrive to Starbucks.

And while these new sips are being served at Starbucks locations all over Disney property in spots like Epcot’s Fountain View, Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery, Trolley Car Cafe at Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom’s Creature Comforts, they’re likely gracing the menu at your local Starbucks, too (making this a two-fer review for you!).

We’re talking about the Smoked Butterscotch Latte and Smoked Butterscotch Frappuccino! And though they’re available nationwide, many folks are making the comparison to a specific specialty drink at a certain theme park also located in Central Florida: BUTTERBEER™.

Described as “creamy-sweet with kettle cooked butterscotch,” it sure sounds enticing enough.

So I grabbed both the hot latte and the frappuccino versions so I could decide for myself how they really compare to a glass of Butterbeer™. If you’ve never had one, Butterbeer comes in a few different versions like cold or frozen, and has a very sweet and distinct butterscotch flavor throughout its cream soda base. The whole thing is topped off with foam.

Warning to Disney purists — we’re branching out a bit today! Heather Winfield sent along this amazing review of some food stops in Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Just take one look at that mug of butterbeer and you might be swayed… . Take it away Heather!

In December, we visited Universal for the first time to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (WWoHP.) I got in late in the Harry phenomenon, but WWoHP is a must do for any fan. It was amazing. Every detail was perfect! When it was time for lunch, we didn’t want to leave the area, so we decided to eat at WWoHP’s restaurant, Three Broomsticks.

Happy Sunday, all! Did you catch the big Disney food news this week? Disney World has announced that Epcot Food & Wine Festival event reservations will open on July 20th, 2010, at 7am! They’ve also mentioned another new event for this year! As always keep up with the latest information on our Epcot Food and Wine Festival page! It’s updated every time a new bit of info is released.

Welcome to the Round-Up! Quick Disney food news recap on this Easter Sunday morning:

Finally, don’t forget to head over the DisMarks Disney Blog Carnival for some great reads (30 submissions!!) about your favorite topics! And now, on to the Round-Up!

The Washington Post showcased these videos of the Marshmallow Peeps Diorama competition, two of which show dioramas themed to Disney movies (Winner: “Eep” — a representation of “Up.” Finalist: “The Mad Hatter’s Peep Party” — a representation of “Alice in Wonderland.)!

Three Baking Sheets to the Wind created some amazing Alice in Wonderland themed cupcakes. Just wait until you see the “Tweedledee and Tweedledum” ones… Wow.
