Disney World EXTENDS Contemporary Hotel Construction Through 2027

We’ve got some rough news for those who were hoping to stay at a fully refurbished Contemporary Resort soon.

Construction is currently ongoing ALL around Disney World Resort, and while it’s all to make things better, more exciting, and add more value to the parks for guests, when it’s all happening at the same time? That can get a little rough! We’ve been keeping a close eye on the refurbishment happening over at the Contemporary Resort, and it looks like something unfortunate has happened — the construction has just been extended yet again, now meaning it’s going to take over three years to complete this project.

NEWS: Gingerbread Castle Display Is Now at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

One of the most anticipated parts of the holiday season in Disney World is the debut of the large gingerbread creations at the various Disney World hotels!

It’s gingerbread creation time!

While we adore the holiday decorations inside the Disney World parks, we also love hopping around to the different hotels to see what they have on display (spoiler alert: sometimes the decorations are even MORE impressive than the ones inside the parks!). It’s great for a special occasion or it’s acceptable to visit when you’re in your theme park clothes. What IS this magical place? When it comes to rope dropping at Walt Disney World, not every hotel is created equal.

Rope dropping, the process of showing up to a theme park before it opens and then subsequently getting phased deeper and deeper into the park as it gradually becomes available to the public, has become popular among guests as it usually provides you with the shortest wait times of the day and a leg up on guests who show up later. With that said, it’s more like ripping off a Band-Aid rather than something you’ll love to do. Rope dropping at Disney World requires you to get up EARLY, and it could be even earlier than you think once you start factoring in transportation times. On top of that, Walt Disney World hotel guests receive Eary Entry benefits to the resort’s parks. We’ve rope dropped from many different hotels over the years, and if you want to quickly get to rope drop and make the most out of your day, avoid these hotels and opt for their substitutions for a shorter commute.
