We’ve got MASSIVE news out of Disneyland Resort. It’s news we’ve been waiting on for literally YEARS, and now it’s finally time.

Ever since the parks reopened after the 2020 closures, there have been restrictions on when guests have been allowed to park hop between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Finally, after 5+ years, those restrictions are FINALLY going away!
We just went to a VERY special event in Disneyland — it’s a NEW after-hours event that’s only happening TWICE this year!
We’re celebrating 70 years in Disneyland!
We checked out Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites, a special new after-hours event that we’ve been looking forward to for weeks. There’s SO much to experience at this event, like meet and greets with ultra rare characters, check out special merchandise, and, of course, snack on some exclusive offerings. Is the food really worth spending time on, though, when the event is already so rare? Don’t worry, we tried out a few of the options, so you know what to expect!
The annual TEA (Themed Entertainment Association) Global Experience Index just released its official report for 2024. The report summarizes data from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), Entertainment + Culture Advisors (ECA), The Park Database (TPDB), and InPark Magazine. Now, we finally have a list of the most visited theme parks worldwide in 2024! While the report includes the most visited theme parks globally, Florida’s own Magic Kingdom Park topped the list. Are you surprised? As theme park reporters ourselves (who travel to major amusement parks all over the world), we’re not surprised.
Magic Kingdom
In fact, Disney won big in this category, claiming four of the top five most visited theme parks worldwide in 2024. Following Magic Kingdom, the list includes Disneyland Park, Universal Studios Japan, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.
Take a good look at this photo. Take it in. Ahh…the beauty of a Disney theme park at night, right? There’s something extra special about an evening at Disneyland Resort. In fact, one of our favorite parts of spending the night at Disneyland is catching the fireworks show. It’s just SO GOOD.

Clearly, the DFB team is a big fan of fireworks. The combination of music, pyrotechnics, and projections really creates something magical. And now, Disney has started using drone technology to further enhance its nighttime spectaculars. Thanks to @socaloutdoorexplorer and @whatsupscv on Instagram, we may have an update on a new drone project in Disneyland.
As Disney experts, we keep our eyes on a lot of different elements that can affect your vacation. We know all the wait times for Disney World and track ride trends so that you know when to ride each attraction and know when Lightning Lanes are most expensive. The Halloween season brings a LOT of festive fun to Disneyland. We love trying all the fall and Halloween snacks around the resort, and can’t stop ourselves from checking out the super cute merchandise Disney releases for the season. And now, this might be one of our new FAVORITE parts of fall — the Mickey Ghost Popcorn Bucket is FINALLY available!

Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland
While Disney has yet to make an official announcement, a look at the Disneyland park calendar indicates that the Frontierland staple, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, will be closing for refurbishment early next month.
The Walt Disney Company just dropped a bunch of news.
Disney California Adventure
Each quarter, the company releases an earnings report and then hosts an earnings call to review the numbers and answer pressing questions. We typically learn quite a bit of information from these calls, and after the 2024 Q2 earnings results were released, we have some predictions about changes coming soon to Disneyland Resort.

Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland
The reimagined Mickey’s Toontown reopened not too long ago, and Paradise Pier Hotel is currently getting some major renovations. But there are also changes happening in Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining complex. And recently, one location there closed!
Disney Genie+ debuted last year at Disneyland Resort, replacing the former MaxPass system.
Disney Genie
Genie+ is a paid feature that lets you make reservations for Lightning Lanes in the parks. These work similarly to how the old MaxPass lanes did, letting you skip the normal line at rides around the parks. We’ve seen many changes to the system since it debuted, but now, Genie+ just got a price increase in Disneyland.
