…when will EPCOT finally open its out-of-this-world restaurant, Space 220?
Even WITHOUT the historic four month-long closures, Disney World has had their hands full with upcoming construction projects. With Disney World’s 50th Anniversary coming up in 2021 and EPCOT going through a massive transformation ahead of its 40th Anniversary in in 2022, several ambitious new attractions are in the works!

We’ve been running around EPCOT with a friend for Cast Member previews and noticed a few colorful touches since we last visited!
Spaceship Earth
Disney announced that EPCOT will get a new look and new attractions to enhance the park’s transformation. Along with the new indoor roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the plan is to build Journey Of Water, a Moana attraction, and the PLAY! The Epcot Transformation has been underway for a while now.

Honestly, we’re not sure what to look forward to the most. Is it perhaps the upcoming nighttime spectacular, Harmonious? Or maybe it’s World Celebration and Dreamers Point? Well, we certainly can’t discount the innovative and mysterious Play Pavilion. And it IS mysterious — but we might have just figured out even MORE of what will be inside!
Yes, Disney World is currently under a construction halt in the parks, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not still seeing some interesting building permits pop up! Mysterious, we know.

Even with the pause on much of the physical work, Disney is apparently still getting prepped for some big parks projects! Just recently we spotted a bunch of permits for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge. And we’ve picked out a few more juicy permits to check out today. Let’s dive in!

Epcot Transformation Model
With much of Future World closed and blocked off, Epcot is certainly embracing its “work-in-progress” status — and Epcot isn’t the only park either. There’s significant construction all over the parks right now. After all, Disney World has to look its best for the 50th Anniversary next year! We’re taking a look at some NEW permits Disney has been filing to clue us in on what to expect next!

And while there are a lot of exciting changes taking place, we were wondering (and we know you are, too!) if the construction and overall transformation taking place at Epcot will affect the Food and Wine Festival this year. We learned about a new Moana-themed attraction, the upcoming Star Wars hotel (named Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser) and so much more.
The D23 Expo was very enlightening with regard to Epcot’s on-going transformation, one that finds the beloved park in a “state of becoming” as Imagineer Zack Riddley said. One such change is the creation of the PLAY! Pavilion in what will be Epcot’s World Discovery neighborhood.

One of the most exciting announcements at the D23 Expo today has been the reveal of a “fresh new journey” for Epcot’s Future World, a journey that will transform the Park and tap into “the magic of possibility.”
Welcome to Epcot!
Much of the original inspiration of Epcot will shine through in the new design, according to the announcement, and now we have more information on how Future World will be laid out. Get ready for three new “neighborhoods” in addition to World Showcase!
