Disney Food Pics of the Week: Epcot’s France Pavilion!

Bonjour, Mes Amis! We’ve got a new review of Chefs de France in Epcot’s France Pavilion coming up for you soon; and to whet your appetite we’re taking a look at some of our favorite finds in the pavilion through the lenses of our savvy readers who post on our Flickr page, the Disney Food Photo Extravaganza!

Grand Marnier Slush

Can you walk through Epcot’s France Pavilion without sampling one (or both!) of those delicious grown up slushes? We can’t either! Is your favorite the Grand Marnier Orange, captured below by DFB reader Mandy Jansen? Or do you prefer the Grey Goose Lemon variety? Both are winners in my book!

Snack Series: Coconut Bar at Disney’s Beach Club Resort Marketplace

I love discovering new-to-me treats around the Disney resorts. It’s one of my favorite pastimes! This one I came across upon a late-night foraging session at the Beach Club one day… . Since finding it, it’s become one of my favorite unique resort eats!

Coconut Bar

The Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club serves a couple of different important functions for this deluxe resort.

Beach Club Marketplace Entrance

It’s your go-to spot for grabbing sundries and souvenirs. But it’s also one of the only places besides Hurricane Hanna’s Pool Bar that offers counter service eats within Beach Club. You can see our latest review of their made-to-order sandwiches here. And don’t forget — this is also your Oreo Bon Bon hook up spot!

But today, we’re focusing on the baked goods you can find here, and one in particular — the Coconut Bar.

Sweets and Baked Goods at Beach Club Marketplace

First off, let me say — this thing is enormous. You can’t really tell from the close up pics, but check it out by the other cookies in the case above. It’s easily shareable, or you can eat part of it, and save the rest for later. (That’s what I usually do.)

Disney Popcorn Gallery

We always love adding to our Disney food galleries!

From Margaritas to Ice Cream to Creme Brulee and more, we’re always collecting options and photos to share with you. And we quickly realized that there was one salty snack missing from our gallery list! What’s a trip to Disney without at least one bucket of Popcorn?

I think Disney popcorn is some of the best popcorn anywhere, and while newfangled snacks and treats will come and go, the classics will never go away.

You’ll find carts selling popcorn all over Walt Disney World and Disneyland, as well as in some of the resorts that also draw visitors, like Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. But there’s even more variety to it than that, so we’ve put together this handy gallery to showcase all the great popcorny options available!

You Never Get Tired of Disney Popcorn!

We’re going to share with you some of our favorite popcorn and popcorn-related goodness, but be sure to let us know your favorites or anything we don’t mention in comments below! Also, please keep in mind, especially in regard to menu items that include popcorn, that menus are constantly changing, so you may not always see these items when you visit a restaurant.

Disney Popcorn: A Classic

In need of some popcorn at Disney? You never have far to look. In fact, if your first stop is Magic Kingdom, you encounter a popcorn stand as soon as you set foot onto Main Street USA! Some of our readers say that Disney popcorn is the best-tasting in the world — and who am I to disagree?

Disney Popcorn!

And another great bit of news — Disney popcorn is vegan and gluten-free! Popcorn is naturally devoid of gluten. But the kernels are popped in a combination of coconut, corn, and canola oil, and are seasoned with kosher salt, so there are no animal products used. (Disney cautions that because the popcorn is prepared in outdoor locations, there is potential for cross-contamination. When in doubt of a food’s ingredients, be sure to ask for an ingredient list.)

Souvenir Buckets

If you think the fun stops with the snack, well…then let me show you something completely awesome. In addition to the crunchy goodness, you can also amass a completely fabulous collection of souvenir buckets should you be so inclined.

Collect different ones from each Disney park! Here’s one from Animal Kingdom, [Read more…]

Introducing: The Mickey Marshmallow Cone at Trolley Treats

Today, we’re headed to Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure to sample some seriously adorable eats!

Located on the recently re-imagined Buena Vista Street, Trolley Treats is a candy store featuring a show kitchen on the premises — a first for California Adventure. And the shop captures that nostalgic sweets shop vibe perfectly.

Trolley Treats Candy Sign

No matter how old you are, you’ll want a treat from Trolley Treats, complete with its custom Trolley Treats packaging!

I Heart the Vintage-Inspired Trolley Treats Logo!

And now, in addition to the delicious handmade marshmallows in a variety of amazing flavors, I’ve found another must have: Mickey Marshmallow Cones!

Mickey Marshmallow Cones

I just love finding treats that uniquely represent Disney, you know? And when I spied what looked like Mickey Mouse ice cream cones in the display case, I knew I had to take a closer look. And taste, actually!

The sweets masquerading as hand-dipped frozen treats turned out to be made of marshmallow!

Marshmallow Cones in the Case

I saw these on an initial visit to Trolley Treats on my last Disneyland vacation, and HAD to go back to actually try one!

As we’ve mentioned here before, one of Trolley Treats’ signature sweets are gourmet marshmallows, made right in the shop’s show kitchen. So I’m thinking these are [Read more…]

The very first time I had the Chocolate Mickey Tart at Jolly Holiday Bakery in Disneyland, it was love at first bite. The shortbread crust and creamy ganache filling is out of this world!

Snack Series: NEW Viking Mousse from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Epcot’s Norway

It’s about time to check in at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and see what’s new!

The quaint little bakery and sandwich shop may be small in size. (Seriously. Tiny.) But it’s big on offerings!

In fact, it features some of the most unique and beloved treats in all of Disney World for many guests.

In addition to some fantastic sandwiches, there are some pastries here that have achieved Disney Food Blog legendary distinction…

Step Into Norway's Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe For Some Delicious Treats!

We’ve talked extensively about how awesome that creamy, custardy, coconutty schoolbread is here. And you can’t forget the rice cream, jam filled waffles, and lefse.

New! Viking Mousse

But recently, I stopped into the shop to see what was new (updating our Disney Food Blog Guide to Epcot Snacks, of course!), and a different treat caught my eye.

And how could it not? I mean, look at the awesomeness that is Viking Mousse.

Viking Mousse Display

There was no way I could walk away from this. C’mon, people. It has HORNS! I couldn’t wait to bust inside and check it out.

And in truth, this is actually a fairly simple dessert: a chocolate mousse dome, twin tuile cookie horns, and a garnish of toasted coconut.

Disney Recipe: Shula’s Steak House Chocolate Soufflé

I have the PERFECT recipe for you to try this weekend!! Are you ready for a little chocolate…?

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, making a romantic dinner, or just treating yourself to a marathon of your favorite TV show — it’s always good to have a classic recipe like Chocolate Soufflé in your back pocket. Pull it out for some serious shock and awe!

Today, we’re dropping by one of our favorite steakhouses at Disney World, the incredible Shula’s Steakhouse at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.

I JUST had this dessert a couple of weeks ago, and it remains a favorite! (Stay tuned for our full review soon!)

Shula's Steakhouse Chocolate Souffle

Snack Series: Monkey Cupcake at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

It is a happy day when we can tell you about a brand new cupcake! (Or at least one that’s new to us!)

HUGE thanks to DFB readers Matt and Lenore for telling me about this — and making it imperative that I head over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort on my last Disney World Visit!

Monkey Cupcake!

One of the treats that I couldn’t wait to sample on my recent trip to Walt Disney World was the Monkey Cupcake at Old Port Royale Food Court within Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. I’d heard it had peanut butter buttercream icing (hubba hubba!!) and a surprise inside!

You might be asking at this point: so, what makes this a “monkey cupcake?” I mean, there are no little chocolate monkeys or faces on it, like you’d find on the Elephant Cupcake at Animal Kingdom’s Kusafiri Bakery and Coffee Shop

But when you cut into the moist cake, you begin to get the picture. The proof is in the pudding — or filling as it were. And the filling just happens to be chock full of bananas!

Snack Series and Recipe!: The Magic Cookie Bar at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

I have to apologize to you guys.

I have been horribly remiss in not telling you about this incredible snack yet…but I didn’t even know about it! Just goes to show there’s ALWAYS something exciting to find when it comes to Disney food!! :-)

OK, here we go! Recently, an awesome DFB reader tipped me off to an amazing find at Roaring Fork in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge — the Magic Cookie Bar.

As a big fan of Roaring Fork, I wondered how could I have missed such a thing. So on my recent trip to the World, I made it my mission to get to Wilderness Lodge and try it before any more time passed!

I have to be honest — with everything I eat when I’m in Disney World, it’s hard to completely finish everything. But this? THIS was one of the things on my recent trip that I ate in its entirety! It’s THAT good.

First off, it’s big. I mean, it may not look that big in the picture, but this is a super rich bar, chock-full of deliciousness.

Magic Cookie Bar -- Wrapped and Ready

Unwrapped, you start to get a sense of just what went into this. There’s a ton of flavor going on here, with chocolate and butterscotch chips, condensed milk, coconuts, and nuts.
