Best Rides for Toddlers at Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World is truly a multi-generational destination. From grandparents to parents of toddlers, you’ll find attractions for everyone in the family. We’ve been on these rides with our own children and now we want to share our park-tested tips with you. In between rides, your toddlers will be fascinated with the shows, parades, characters, snacks, and play areas. Magic Kingdom is a full 1 or more days of family fun!
We realize that kids, especially toddlers, may like something one day and very much dislike it the next. If your toddler is currently fearful of the dark, things that spin or go up and down, or even loud noises, we’re going to clue you in as to which rides, they may enjoy on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
Since many families begin their Disney World vacations in the Magic Kingdom, let’s look at the best rides for toddlers when visiting this iconic park.
Best Places to Watch Fireworks in Magic Kingdom
We’re always scoping out great viewing locations for fireworks at Walt Disney World. When your day ends in the Magic Kingdom, it’s a fan tradition to stay for the magical fireworks.
Playing until April 2, 2023, Disney Enchantment is a fireworks and projection show that debuted as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration. While the show focuses on the park’s centerpiece — Cinderella Castle, the projections actually go ALL the way down Main Street, U.S.A.). We can’t wait for Happily Ever After to return to Magic Kingdom on April 3, 2023 with all-new projections!
We want to share some of our favorite fireworks spots at Magic Kingdom. After all, at the end of a Magic Kingdom day you just might be too tired to strategize, and that’s why we encourage you to plan ahead.

Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese at The Alps
Let’s start with warm cheese at The Alps! This one is an AJ favorite!! You guys know that I lived in Switzerland for a year, and raclette (melty raclette cheese poured over bread, boiled potatoes, gherkins, and other goodies) as a staple.
And Disney’s actually done a great job with it here! The half-wheel of raclette is melted right in the booth, and shaved off beautifully onto the veggies and bread. Pungent and delicious, this one is a must-do for my cheese-fans out there.
Spanish-style Paella with Botifarra and Roasted Chicken at Spain
is serving a Spanish-style Paella with Botifarra and Roasted Chicken with a little bit of heat! Flavorful and cooked to perfection!!
If you’re looking for a larger portion, this is a great buy.
Jerk-spiced Chicken with Roasted Sweet Plantain Salad and Mango Chutney Yogurt at Islands of the Caribbean
For Islands of the Caribbean, Jerk-spiced Chicken with Roasted Sweet Plantain Salad and Mango Chutney Yogurt is a stand-out!
While this dish hasn’t wowed us in previous years, this time around the chicken is cooked on an outdoor grill! You WILL taste the difference. It was a DFB team favorite!
Citrus Sunrise and Chai-Quila at Joffrey’s
For a refreshing beverage, stop by Joffrey’s for a Citrus Sunshine in Canada. Opt for this drink over the Aulani Sunrise at Hawai’i.
At the Odyssey cart by Joffrey’s, we like the Chai-quila.
Roasted Lamb Chop and Deconstructed Pavlova at Australia
At Australia, the Roasted Lamb Chop had great flavors. It’s a twist on the lamb chops of the past at this booth and we loved the update.
For a not-too-sweet dessert, one member of the DFB team really enjoyed the lightness of this option.
Spicy Hummus Fries and New York Strip Steak Green Shermoula Flatbread at Morocco
The Spicy Hummus Fries at Morocco were delicious, as always, even with the sauce update — we needed more sauce, though!
The flatbread (it was a taco) had a really good kick to it!
Maple Bourbon Boursin Cheesecake AND Blueberry Wine at The Cheese Studio
Let’s look at two returning favorites. First, The Cheese Studio is worth a visit for the Maple Bourbon Boursin Cheesecake.
This creamy, decadent treat is made better-than-your-usual-cheesecake (and that’s saying something!!) thanks to that hint of bourbon in the caramel sauce.
BUT, the Sparkling Blueberry Wine by Florida Orange Groves Winery wowed us again! [Read more…]
DFB Reader Review: Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Editor’s Note: During this season’s Flurry of Fun at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! nighttime spectacular lights up the skies with festive fireworks set to holiday music and projections. But how does it stand up to Magic Kingdom’s holiday dessert party? Guest author, DFB Reader Mark Roberts, chimes in with a helpful review.
Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Dessert Party
First, it is important to know that everything is being evaluated in light of the dessert party at the Tomorrowland Terrace during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that we attended the night before. The holiday version of Wishes is simply stunning and everything about that dessert party was equal to the fireworks show. We had a fabulous time. Unfortunately, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! doesn’t measure up to its cousin over in the Magic Kingdom.
For starters, the Bam! dessert party is hurried. We were supposed to check in at 7:30 p.m. for the 8:30 p.m. show. Over in MK you can be a little late and not worry about it because you eat on the Terrace and watch (in a nice chair – remember that – it’s important later) the fireworks from the Terrace. If you are late, that just means less time to grab some food before the show starts.
Not so over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We arrived about 7:35 p.m. in the front alcove area of Grauman’s Chinese Theater (right where the entrance to the Great Movie Ride was). It was roped off and there were tables and a dessert buffet set up. But as soon as we were checked in and given a credential we were told that at 8:00 p.m. we would have to move because we were in a fireworks landing zone! That gave the evening a rushed feel, because — well — we were rushed!
We quickly filled a plate with some chips and spinach artichoke dip while we reconnoitered the situation. There were two long dessert tables (with identical choices) filled with tiny cheesecake bites, cookies, a Yule log (dark chocolate), and more. Fresh fruit awaited a helping of chocolate fondue and the bread pudding was simmering at the end of the table. That was all great to see and it was all delicious. [Read more…]
