Disneyland Dining News
There have been lots of updates and rumors coming out of Disneyland in the past week, so I figured I’d gather them all into one big Disneylandia update! 😉
New Dining Coming Soon to the Disneyland Hotel
Disneyland Hotel will be renovating their Never Land pool area, and new dining will come along with it! Two new dining spots will be introduced in 2011, including one table-service restaurant reminiscent of the 50’s and 60’s era “Tahitian Terrace” restaurant. A lounge/bar will be added, which will draw from the “adventure” theme of the Jungle Cruise attraction. These additions will [Read more…]
World of Color Dining Packages Announced
Dining Packages for the World of Color have been announced! The dining packages will work like Disney World’s Fantasmic Dinner packages. Guests will book their dining arrangements and eat well before the show begins. After dining, guests will receive tickets for reserved viewing at the shows. Ariel’s Grotto and Wine Country Trattoria are the restaurants participating in the package.
Update: After June 14, 2012, World of Color Dining Packages will no longer be offered at Ariel’s Grotto.
Dinner Seating Times
Dinner seatings for the 9pm show will be from 4-6:30pm. Dinner seatings for the 10:15pm show will be from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
Ariel’s Grotto
A prix fixe meal with reserved viewing will be available in the elegant surroundings of Ariel’s Grotto on the edge of Paradise Bay. After dinner, guests will be offered admission to the “World of Color” Preferred Reserved Viewing area.
Wine Country Trattoria
Guests can enjoy a three-course, prix fixe dinner in the newly expanded and remodeled Wine Country Trattoria. Following dinner, the guests will be admitted to the Preferred Reserved Viewing area for the show. The Italian meal includes choice of starter, entrée and dessert plus a special wine pairing.
To Make Reservations, call 714-781-DINE. Note on Reserved Viewing: Each guest entering the reserved viewing area must have reserved viewing area admission. Children (ages 3-9) must be accompanied by an adult. Guests may only enter the viewing area during designated times and no early or late admission will be allowed. Guests in large parties may not be guaranteed admission within the same reserved viewing area. Separate theme park admission is required.
World of Color Picnic Meals
If table-service isn’t your style, consider ordering one of the World of Color picnic meals. Varying from cold fried chicken to delicious sandwiches, these can be ordered in advance or picked up (subject to availability) on the day you’re in the theme park! See details here on how to order the World of Color Picnic Meals! Here’s a World of Color Picnic recent review.

Changes to Disney World’s Online Dining Reservation System
Disney World recently announced a few changes to the online dining reservations system launched last Spring. To book, head over to the DisneyWorld.com website.
Most Noticeable Changes
- The front page is now segmented into different dining experiences, including Signature Dining (which cost 2 dining credits on the Disney Dining Plan and are more costly than other restaurants), Character Dining, Most Popular Restaurants, Dinner Shows, and Special Experiences (like the Fantasmic Dinner Package).
- The top of the front page now offers you the chance to search for restaurants based on cuisine type, dining experience, location, or restaurant name.
- The front page is now a quick-search where you can input dates and times needed without going to the actual reservation page for the individual restaurants. (This is probably the best and most useful improvement, IMHO.)
Here’s a screen shot of the new quick-search system:
Head over and test out the new system! Like? Don’t Like? We’d love to hear your thoughts! 🙂

Party in the Magic Kingdom!
One of our favorite bloggers, Leigh Caldwell of ThemeParkMom.com, was lucky enough to attend the Orlando International Pow Wow last week, which launched with a party at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on Sunday evening! She’s put together a little review and shared with us some awesome pics of the delectable goodies available to attendees. Thanks, Leigh!
Have you ever wondered what it’s like inside the Magic Kingdom during one of those “The park will close early for a special event” nights? Now I can say that I know. I attended the International Pow Wow (a travel industry convention) in Orlando last week, and the opening night party was at the Magic Kingdom. I snapped plenty of pictures to try to show you the kinds of food available.
The first thing to note is the first thing I saw – beer! on Main Street U.S.A.! When we walked into the party, we were greeted by servers offering trays of beer and wine right on Main Street. And the usually forbidden alcohol continued to flow after that, with bar set-ups in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, where most of the party was centered.
But enough talk, you guys came here to see food pictures, right? It was quite dark throughout the park, so these aren’t the greatest, but I did my best:
First up was this cup of smoked tomato soup, accompanied by two tiny sandwiches — one smoked salmon, the other prosciutto. The sandwiches were threaded on a skewer.
Shrimp gyros served cone style. I’m [Read more…]
2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Sneak Peek and New Additions
More news is trickling in about the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Here are some great pics of the Food and Wine Festival slide presentation given at the D23 Flowers and Fireworks event this past weekend. These were taken and donated by Lori Abramson — Thanks, Lori!
New for the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival:
Belgium, South Korea, and Singapore Join the Festival Marketplace
First of all, the most important news (to me, anyway) is that not only are Belgium and South Korea going to be new booths in the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Marketplace, but Singapore will be introduced on the World Showcase Promenade as well!
Looks like Belgium will feature steamed mussels, South Korea will feature “Bo Ssam” — lettuce wraps with a roast pork and kimchee slaw, and Singapore will feature shrimp cake with Singapore noodles!
2010 Food and Wine Festival Food Passports
And while you’re visiting those new marketplaces, you’ll now be able to keep track of what you’ve tried! The festival this year will introduce [Read more…]
Via Napoli Tasting and More! Foodie Review of the D23 Flowers and Fireworks Event
Three Disney Food Blog friends and readers have graciously shared their experiences, insights, and photos with us from the recent D23 Flowers and Fireworks Event, which included some sneak peek information about Via Napoli, Hacienda de San Angel, and the 2010 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! I’ll be presenting their reports in several posts throughout the day, so stay tuned! In this first installment, Disney fans Sarah Holodick and Matthew DeGrandis share some great photos and details of their weekend, including pics and reviews of dishes from upcoming Epcot Italian restaurant, Via Napoli! (Psst…I’ve also snuck in a few D23 Via Napoli presentation pics taken by Lori Abramson — you’ll see more pics from her later today.) Take it away, Sarah and Matt!
Over the weekend, my boyfriend Matt and I attended D23’s Flowers and Fireworks Event. Check-in for the event was between 9am and 5pm at the Grand Floridian, with the dinner and presentations beginning at 7:30pm. After check-in, we received some goodies to take along, and we had the day to spend as we wanted. We decided on heading over to the Magic Kingdom.
We headed back to the Grand Floridian as it neared event time, and there were many people already there. We explored the set up, had our picture taken with Mickey and Minnie in their beach attire, then filled up [Read more…]
Introduction to Disney’s California Food and Wine Festival
If it’s a Wednesday in May, it must mean…Mirror Image Post day!!! Hooray!!! That’s right, today you get a two-fer — Ryan from Main Street Gazette and yours truly here at the Disney Food Blog are reviewing “mirror-image” food topics in Disneyland and Disney World. This week we’re taking a look at Disney’s Food and Wine Festivals, and I get to talk about Disney’s California Food and Wine Festival — which is going on RIGHT NOW!
Disney’s California Food and Wine Festival Overview
Disneyland Resort’s Food and Wine Festival is a fun, diverse, and exciting six weeks full of celebrity chefs, California cuisine, artistic exploration, great wine, and good beer. And here’s something you might not know — the festival takes place primarily within the gates of Disney’s California Adventure Theme Park!
This year, the Festival is celebrating its fifth anniversary! It’s still a rather small festival, but with blockbuster seminars from chefs like Guy Fieri, Cat Cora, Keegan Gerhard, and Robert Irvine, along with fantastic wine and beer walks, tastes of incredible California ingredients, and a hip, “never-know-what-to-expect-next” atmosphere, the Festival fits its location and fills its six week stint perfectly.
How do you know what’s happening, and when? Disney has it [Read more…]
