2026 is going to be a BIG year for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as the park’s multi-year transformation continues with new attractions, refurbishments, and the return of the Muppets!
Over the course of my 30+ years visiting the park now known as Hollywood Studios — yes, I do often type Disney-MGM Studios first, much to my editor’s chagrin — I’ve seen the park transform from its working studio beginnings to its mid-2000s malaise to its current role as the home of some of Disney’s most popular and advanced rides. A lot has changed about Walt Disney World over the last 50+ years, especially since the 1990s and early 2000s, meaning that there are a lot of things millennials once experienced at the parks that would seem wildly out of place now! Although both of these shows are closing in September, we have some new nighttime shows to look forward to for the 50th anniversary celebrations. Fireworks have been missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios since it reopened last year, but now they are BACK!
Even though Disney World reopened to guests almost a year ago, there are still lots of experiences that remain different.

Fairfax Fare
Many restaurants and hotels have reopened since July or have set reopening dates for later this year, but there are a few that remain closed. Today, we noticed some menu changes at a closed quick service restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Hello movie stars, and welcome to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

There’s been a lot of speculation about whether or not AMC could survive the summer since they shut down all of their movie theaters in the U.S. as well as the U.K. due to the current global health crisis.
And while the company had previously announced they would keep their theaters closed until studios began releasing new movies, they are currently working on a plan to reopen as many AMC theaters by July as they can.
