WDWMagic reports that WDW’s Sunshine Tree Terrace will be closed for refurb from January 17th through February 12th of this year.

BizJournals has some more updated info on the Cantina de San Angel refurb in Epcot.

The Disney Blog has news of some Valentine’s Day Dining Options in Disney World.

DLP.info reports that Disneyland Paris’ California Grill restaurant will be a buffet from January 10th through February 4th, 2010, due to refurb at the restaurant next door.

StitchKingdom has exclusive pics of Disney World’s new 3D Mickey Ears, including two for the foodies representing a Mickey Bar and a Popcorn container.


Daveland went to Disney World and got himself some amazing pics. In his trip report photo blogs, you’ll see incredible shots of Victoria and Albert’s (trip report Part I), Liberty Tree Tavern (plus the characters!) (trip report Part II), and Hoop Dee Doo Revue (trip report Part III).

Disney Food Post Round-Up: January 3, 2010

Eat hereWelcome to 2010! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend. And I know a bunch of you are gearing up for January and February Disney trips, so get that laundry folded and in the suitcase, already!

Now, everyone’s posting some really fun things about Disney food in the past couple of weeks, so I can’t wait to share the latest with you.

First, however, I need to share some news — one of my favorite counter-service offerings, Animal Kingdom’s Picnic in the Park, will become a “seasonal” offering after January 2, 2010. “Seasonal” in Disney-speak can mean anything from open once a decade to open all the time except when it rains, so we’re not really sure what it means in this case.

Now, on to the Round-Up!

Daveland Blog shares some cool Blue Bayou photos from Disneyland.

Samland’s Disney Adventures shares a fun imagineering detail about Tony’s Town Square, which includes information about Le Chapeau next door, Walt Disney, Lillian Disney, and a puppy… .

The Disney Blog has an awesome story about a giant Wall-e made of donated food cans, which will eventually benefit local food banks.

Cake Wrecks reminds us that even though a lot of us are getting fatter, our character cakes are getting fatter, too!

Studios Central posted a great twitpic that reminds us of Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Don’t forget to drop by Studios Central directly for info on DHS!

Imaginerding found some interesting books at Animal Kingdom’s Restaurantosaurus

Teacups and Toasters has a series of posts on the Disney Wonderland Tea you can find throughout the parks and resorts.

DLP.info shares the scoop that Earl of Sandwich will be opening a location at Disneyland Resort Paris. The site also shares a fun story on Mulled Wine at DLRP.

The Orange County Register reported in December that Robert Irvine is possibly being courted for an appearance at the Disneyland Food & Wine Festival.

Laughing Place reports that Epcot’s Refreshment Port, which used to be home to McDonald’s products, is now selling Latin-inspired foods such as empanadas and dulce de leche sundaes.

Cooking With Mickey is looking for your suggestions for recipes you’d like to see on the blog!

Main Street Gazette highlights a video and notes from Gary Vaynerchuk’s Portuguese Wines presentation in Epcot.

Disney Food Post Weekly Round-Up: October 11, 2009

Hi all! The top story in Disney dining this week is that Disney World is trying out a new seating system at four Magic Kingdom counter-service restaurants.

Disney has been restricting seating to groups who have already received their food, hoping to cut down on the amount of people “saving tables” while the rest of their group is still ordering food. It remains to be seen what the outcome will be. In the meantime, Robert Niles at Theme Park Insider has discussed the issue in his blog post: Pecos Bill and the Prisoner’s Dilemma.

But while that debate rages on, there’s still plenty of other great Disney food writing going on. The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival continues, brand new hotels have opened (which means brand new eating establishments!), there’s a new food spot for the Alaska cruises, and more! Here we go!

Epcot Food and Wine Festival News
Attractions Magazine takes a look at Epcot’s Party for the Senses, including photos and a video! Haven’t had enough? Laughing Place adds their Party for the Senses photos as well! This is one event I would LOVE to attend someday.

Etckt stopped by the Food and Wine Festival to sample some dishes from the International Marketplaces. He’s an incredible photographer, so be sure to check this one out!

And the Disney Parks Blog posted some great videos and recipes from celebrity chef team The Deen Brothers and Food Network’s Dinner Impossible Chef Robert Irvine. The blog also posted their highlights from the Wine chat with Gary Vaynerchuk.

D23 Expo Reveal: Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern!

The rumors from this summer are true! By now, many of you have heard about the incredible re-vamp in store for Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Fantasyland. You’ve heard about Dumbo expanding, the Ariel attraction, and dancing lessons with Cinderella. But what WE like to hear about is the FOOD! And Disney has happily included some new dining establishments in its Fantasyland plans: Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern!

Both dining spots will be in the new Beauty and the Beast area of Fantasyland, and we know for certain that Be Our Guest Restaurant will be a three-room, themed, table-service restaurant in the “Beast’s Castle.” Speculation is that this may be the re-emergence of a restaurant slated for Disneyland Paris’ fantasyland a while back.

Michael, over at Progress City, U.S.A., hypothesized even more for the restaurant in his July 16th, 2009, blog post. This came soon after the initial blueprints for the fantasyland plans were leaked earlier this summer:

What’s really mysterious is the “Be Our Guest Restaurant.” … Could this new restaurant be a revived version of the unrealized dining concept for Disneyland Paris’s Fantasyland, which would feature an animatronic dinner show based on Beauty and the Beast? In that attraction, guests would dine while the Beast’s castle slowly came to life around them; it would be as if they had combined the Enchanted Tiki Room with an actual restaurant. It would certainly be a nice addition to the park.

This sounds like an amazing dining experience. My fingers are crossed!

Also new on the scene is Gaston’s Tavern, which looks like it might be a counter-service or less-expensive table service location. You can see, as Jay Rasulo quipped in his description, Gaston said he likes to decorate with antlers…
