Hurricane Ian has officially made landfall in Florida, bringing extreme winds, rain, and potential flooding with it. In preparation for the storm, Disney World closed its theme parks on Wednesday and Thursday (September 28th and 29th). The Orlando International Airport also shut down commercial operations, which means anyone staying at Disney World hotels is currently riding out the storm inside those rooms.
Disney Cast Members take care of the guests while they’re stuck at the hotel, often coming up with indoor activities like movie marathons or character meet-and-greets. Since most guests likely don’t have much food with them in their hotel rooms, another concern is making sure everyone gets the food they need. OK, y’all. It’s time to talk about the unsung hero of Disney World dining: resort food courts. Now, we know what you’re thinking: “Why on earth would I eat at those spots when there are options like Casey’s Corner, La Hacienda de San Angel, and JIKO out there?” We totally get it. But these cafeteria-style restaurants can do one thing for you that all of those places CAN’T.
These fast, casual restaurants can be there for you, right inside your hotel, even late at night when you’re just craving a slice of pizza or a burger. They’re easy to find, have a lot of comfortable options, and are generally much cheaper than the table-service restaurants in Disney World. We’ve seen several buffets return to Disney World in the past few months.
Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has breakfast and dinner buffets again, and family-style dining switched back to a buffet at The Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort will have breakfast and dinner buffets again starting February 15th. And now, yet another buffet is back in Disney World!
Disney World is still in the process of reopening certain attractions, hotels, and restaurants. Although Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has been open for a while now, one restaurant remained closed — until now, that is!
Story Book Dining at Artist Point is a character meal that’s offered at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Here you can meet Snow White, some of the Seven Dwarfs, and maybe even the Evil Queen!
