Maybe you really love Festival of the Lion King (and yes, it’s a CLASSIC). Or, perhaps you enjoy singing along with Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Maybe you prefer the action-packed heart-pounding stunts of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. However, if it’s the latter, you may notice that the show is a little different right now.
Two years POST pandemic closures, Disney World is still not truly back to “normal.”
Things in Disney World are Different
No, we’re not talking about how masks are still required in some places, or how some restaurants still haven’t reopened. We’re actually talking about one BIG thing that has changed a lot over the past several months and is set to continue changing in the upcoming weeks — entertainment. But, more specifically, we’re talking about those little pieces of entertainment that typically fill the streets in Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and elsewhere — the streetmosphere!
Disneyland Resort was closed for 412 days throughout 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic, and it finally reopened in April 2021. While some things have returned to a new level of “normal,” the Disneyland president recently stated that the park is about halfway through the extended phased reopening process.

Recently, we’ve been able to enjoy the 2022 Food & Wine Festival in Disney California Adventure, and even the famous chocolate-covered fudge Easter eggs are back! Now a special music program is returning to Disneyland this summer, and here’s when you can catch some tunes again on Main Street, U.S.A.!

You certainly aren’t alone! The fan-favorite show returned to Disney World in May of 2021 and has had an interesting journey since then. The show returned under a new title called A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King and a few things were missing like the iconic birds flying in the air and the tumble monkeys (which are set to return soon!). Showtimes for this fan-favorite attraction have been fluctuating recently, but several shows were canceled today.
Okay, so Disney World might not exactly be New York City — this isn’t the City That Never Sleeps, after all — but it isn’t the sleepy early bird vibe either!

While Disney World is obviously a mecca for kids and families, there are actually LOTS of ways of adults to stay entertained late at night! Even waaaaay past our bedtime at midnight!
Although many things have returned to somewhat “normal” in Disney World, we’re still waiting for some restaurants and shows to reopen.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
One show located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been closed since March 2020, but before that it featured dinner AND entertainment, with performances celebrating Polynesian traditions. We just received an update about the future for this show, and you might be disappointed by this news.
After what feels like a CENTURY, shows and entertainment are making a HUGE comeback in Disney World — and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
