We recently got to see the reveal of Dreamer’s Point and the new nighttime show, Luminous. However, not everyone is happy about these new transformation additions to the park — in fact, they have some pretty big problems with them.
“Don’t be suspicious, don’t be suspicious…” (That’s Disney when something major changes that they know their fans aren’t going to love.)
Disney sometimes tries to sneak certain changes by us, but we’re pretty good at catching them when they do! Right now we’re exposing four SHOCKING Disney World changes that initially got swept under the rug. [Read more…]
Disney World is certainly no stranger to change.
Since first opening in 1971 with Magic Kingdom, the parks and resorts have gone through countless additions and updates — and they just keep coming! One of the biggest changes in Disney World’s history is happening NOW with the EPCOT Transformation. This multi-year project is expected to breathe new life into the park, and we’ve already seen some of it come to fruition. But, not everything has gone according to plan — so here’s what’s going WRONG with the EPCOT Transformation.
It’s no secret that Disney World is changing…like ALL THE TIME.
We’ve had new rides, new lands, and new restaurants to get excited about, all within just the last year. However, sometimes there are changes that Disney prefers to sweep under the rug — those that they honestly hoped you wouldn’t notice!
Back in 2019, we learned that Spaceship Earth would close for a lengthy renovation, which would ultimately result in new scenes, updated technology, and a new storyline! (Remember when THAT was the biggest thing we were all worried about? 2022 us is laughing at 2019 us! 🤪)
Obviously, things have changed quite a bit at Disney World since 2019, and this massive refurbishment on one of EPCOT’s most iconic rides has been up in the air for over a year! What exactly is the current status on Spaceship Earth’s renovation, and will it ever actually happen? Here’s what we know.
Doesn’t it feel like we’ve been talking about EPCOT’s Transformation for YEARS? Well, that’s because we have been talking about all of the exciting projects in development at EPCOT for some time now — remember wayyy back at the 2019 D23 Expo when we first got a glimpse at all of those retro-inspired posters and Spaceship Earth model that once sat in the EPCOT Experience (the EPCOT Experience has since closed).
While some projects are moving along, full steam ahead, others have either hit the ‘pause’ button or have been shelved altogether. Let’s recap what was supposed to be a part of the EPCOT transformation, but is now on the chopping block.
Way, WAY back during the 2019 D23 Expo, Disney announced a massive renovation coming to Spaceship Earth as part of EPCOT’s transformation. The refurbishment, which included reimagining several scenes within the ride, would mean a temporary closure of the park’s flagship attraction.
As we know, a LOT has happened since late 2019, and the timeline of Spaceship Earth’s renovation has been called into question. Let’s recap what we know about the renovation!
This major refurb is set to introduce a new narration, new focus, and new scenes. Of course, it was delayed indefinitely due to the global health crisis, so we have NO idea when the attraction might close. Still, a new permit might point to some refurb work!
This week alone, Disney made an official statement that the Spaceship Earth renovation and the new Mary Poppins attraction are being postponed. We just learned three new attractions that will allegedly close permanently.
