WE JUST GOT A FIRST LOOK AT THE MUPPETS!!!!!!!
Yes, I am that excited. Disney just shared a sneak peek of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets — opening in Hollywood Studios on May 26th — and y’all, I am ready to join the Electric Mayhem!
Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and as part of that celebration, Disney Imagineers brought a Walt Disney animatronic figure to life for the first time ever. Right now, Disneyland visitors can see this new animatronic as part of the Walt Disney — A Magical Life show at the Main Street Opera House that previously hosted Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
Now, Disney made it clear that the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln show wasn’t going away, and that the new show would eventually rotate with the old show. Well, now, we know when that’s going to happen…and it’s WAY sooner than we think. In fact, the two shows will be rotating as of tomorrow.
Frozen Ever After in EPCOT is officially closed for refurbishment! This popular attraction is undergoing a refurbishment and is expected to reopen in February 2026, although Disney has not announced a specific reopening date yet. Of course, we will keep an eye out and let you know when a date is announced!
The refurbishment will bring a long-awaited update to the ride’s audio-animatronics! This EPCOT attraction first opened in 2016, featuring highly advanced animatronics that brought Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff to life. They were the first animtronics to be entirely powered by electric motors and manufactured using 3D printing techniques. However, the faces were projected using animation, and while some say it stays true to the original animation, others thought it looked odd.
Updates all around Disney World have begun. Disney is bringing us new lands, new attractions, new themes at existing attractions, and so much more. We’re so excited for what the upcoming years have in store for us at the Disney World parks! Over the past couple of years, Disney has made so many announcements regarding these changes, but there was one that we were particularly happy to hear.
While the bulk of the changes are happening at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, EPCOT cannot be left out. We haven’t forgotten about the exciting announcement regarding problem-solving changes headed to an EPCOT ride that is in dire need of them.
It’s been a BIG week for Disney news, but if you’ve only been looking in one place, or focusing on one park, you may have missed some of it!
No worries, though, because that’s what we’re here for! We keep up with all the latest Disney news around the globe to help you keep up-to-date on all the latest, because some of it very well may impact your next trip. While every week is full of Disney news, big and small, here are a few of the BIGGEST announcements you may have missed this week.
Disney hasn’t been resting much lately, what with all the new lands coming to parks across the world, the release of Zootopia 2, all the hotel refurbishments going on, new technology being developed, and more.
Recently, Disney gave us a glimpse into what’s happening with the company and dropped some gigantic news bombs with opening dates, new animatronics, and more. So let’s take a closer look at those big announcements that Disney just dropped on us.
Uh Disney? Did you mean to post this?
Disney World is currently undergoing major transformations, including the construction of new lands and attractions over the coming years. Disney gave a very subtle hint about some animatronics we can expect to see, including one that wasn’t on my list!
Whew. That was a long couple of months without Dame Judi Dench telling us to “thank the Phoenicians!” Disney shut down Spaceship Earth in EPCOT for a couple of months of refurbishment (and no, it wasn’t the ride overhaul we’ve been promised for literal years now).
When a ride closes like this in Disney World, many of the changes are not noticeable when it reopens, because they are doing routine maintenance on machinery, refreshing paint, and sometimes updating technology. But you, DFB readers, you’re a different breed — you even noticed a change in the smells on the ride!
This week Disney threw us for a major loop!

Disney World’s Magic Kingdom
There are tons of changes coming to the parks, like the Magic Kingdom expansion, Monsters Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios, and Pueblo Esperanza in Animal Kingdom. We’ve been eagerly awaiting any signs of the changes, but this week Disney gave us tons of news, some of which we weren’t anticipating! That’s why we’re doing a round-up of the biggest news from the week right here.
Magic Kingdom is BUSY right now, and we’re not talking about crowds. A lot is happening there. In Tomorrowland, Astro Orbiter just reopened after a refurbishment and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close soon for a huge update.
Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America are also closing soon to be converted into a brand new Cars expansion in Frontierland, while Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing some massive upgrades. Behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, a new Villains land is being constructed. Whew! Well, we’ve got some news about an attraction in Liberty Square that’s been closed for five months — Hall of Presidents has quietly reopened.
