Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of Disney World’s most beloved annual traditions, offering spooktacular delights including treats, shows, special ride overlays, and even Disney’s best-known characters in their Halloween best.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off at Magic Kingdom on August 15th, and we can’t wait to take in all the sights, sounds, frights, and foods.
I Spy a Treat Marker!
One of the BEST parts about this yearly event is being able to go trick-or-treating INSIDE Magic Kingdom. Yep, that’s right — FREE CANDY! You’ll find various trick-or-treat locations throughout the party, and we’ve got the full list of treat stations right here!
One by one, Magic Kingdom is dropping rides. Some closures are permanent (lookin’ at you, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat) while others are just temporary, like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

On August 4th, another Magic Kingdom ride closed for an extended refurbishment — Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. And, now that this ride has closed, there are even fewer Lightning Lane Multi Pass options at this park! I’m a Disney World expert, and even my head is spinning with all of these changes, so here’s what you need to know.

A huge piece of Frontierland recently closed for good, Big Thunder Mountain is still closed for a lengthy refurbishment, and now, another popular Magic Kingdom attraction has hung up the “closed” sign. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has officially closed for a huge reimagining, and we’re taking you with us to see what has changed already!

It’s not the ever-increasing prices or the ridiculous heat and humidity, or even the dilemma of what to wear on your vacation. Nope, it has to do with all the changes coming to Magic Kingdom. Gen Z is in the middle of a pretty big waiting period!
Spooky season is HERE, and you know what that means– it means Magic Kingdom now has its Halloween makeover (ALL the Mickey pumpkin wreaths and we’re obsessed), and new food and snacks are now in the parks.

Now, we were at the first party trying all the new treats, but we’ve also already reviewed a lot of the returning items, so here is our massive review of those!

We do have to say that we wrapped up July in the best way possible, by creating a SWEET Disney Adults Crawl that features drinks created to celebrate the release of our very own AJ Wolfe’s book, Disney Adults: Exploring (And Falling In Love With) A Magical Subculture. We’ve already fallen in love with one of those treats, but they’re all special, and we hope you enjoy the crawl. In the meantime, though, we’ve got some Disney World restaurant menu changes to share with you.
Okay, so a LOT is happening in Magic Kingdom right now. Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island have permanently closed as Disney begins construction on a Cars-themed expansion in Frontierland. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is getting a huge upgrade. A new villains land is set to go behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

A Tomorrowland ride is also set for a huge upgrade. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closes tomorrow, August 4th, so we decided to visit the ride this morning to see what its last day is like…and let’s just say, it was kinda surprising.
