We’re just a little over one week away from the launch of Mears Connect, one of two bus services that will replace Disney’s Magical Express when it service concludes at the end of the year. The other bus service that will replace Magical Express is the recently-announced Sunshine Flyer.

2021 was a really big year for Walt Disney World Resort!
It has been a huge year for Disney World!
With reopening offerings, health and safety policies, and new attractions and restaurants, there have been some major changes to the theme parks and resorts in the past 12 months. But how will those changes impact your 2022 vacation? We’ve got the answers!
A MAJOR change is coming to airport transportation in Florida! As you may have heard, Disney’s Magical Express service is ending in January 2022. But you won’t be stranded at the airport. There are still options to get you to your hotel, and one of them is a new high-speed train. The Brightline train will take guests from the Orlando International airport to a brand new Disney Springs train station.

The plan is still very much a work in progress and is now expected to open around 2026. While we wait for a progress update, we thought we should talk about how this new train will change Disney World! Will it make things easier? Harder? There’s a lot to consider, so let’s break it down!
Disney World made the announcement earlier this year that it would be discontinuing its Magical Express service that provided free transportation for Disney hotel guests to go to and from Orlando International Airport.
Magical Express
Magical Express will be officially discontinued on January 1st, 2022. But, there will be a new transportation service replacing Magical Express called Mears Connect. This service will not be free, meaning there is no longer a free option to get to and from the airport and your Disney World hotel (unless you have a friend in the area that wants to give you a ride!). You can take a ride share service like Uber, use a taxi, rent a car, or take the new Mears Connect system. So, let’s take a look at what Mears Connect will cost you!

In addition to changing Disney World Annual Passes, Disney has also discontinued or altered many previously “free” perks, like complimentary MagicBands for Disney World Resort hotel guests and Annual Passholders, as well as replacing Extra Magic Hours with the shorter Early Theme Park Entry and the more selective Extended Evening Hours. And now perhaps one of the BIGGEST free Disney World perks will be gone in a few short weeks, and here’s what you need to know.
