NEWS: Disney World Files New Construction Permit For Haunted Mansion

We’ve got some more big news coming out of Magic Kingdom, because it includes some work being done on an attraction that we didn’t realize had any construction planned.

Piston Peak is currently under construction, as is Villains Land, not to mention that we’re eagerly awaiting Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin to reopen in 2026 with their refurbishments. Now it looks like there could be some more work being done on another popular attraction in the park, but it’s unclear if it’ll have to close for the changes to be made.

Disney World Is Trying to Fix a Major Issue in 2026…And We’re Curious If It’s Gonna Fly

Cinderella Castle is getting a makeover in 2026! Say goodbye to the current pink color scheme and hello to the classic color scheme with creams and blues. Disney recently announced the timeline for repainting Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom and how they hope to address a major issue.

Beginning in January 2026, workers will start transforming Cinderella Castle. The repainting is expected to be completed later in 2026. Disney hasn’t announced a more specific completion timeline yet. Disney tries its best to ensure refurbishments have the least amount of impact possible on guests, but how is that going to work here? Disney World Files 2 New Permits for Construction

Something you may not know about Disney World is that before they can do ANYTHING construction-wise (and we do pretty much mean anything), they have to file a permit to ensure it’s approved and all done properly.

This goes for the hotels, parks, Disney Springs, and everything in between, and the best part is that those permits are available to the public to see! They’re a little tricky to find, but we’re always on the lookout for new ones, and this time, our search turned up not one permit, but TWO. Yes, that means that in addition to all the construction currently happening around the resort, there will soon be even more.

UPDATE on New Magic Kingdom ‘Cars’ Land Expansion

Magic Kingdom is full of construction right now, and honestly? That won’t be changing any time soon!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will both be reopening after their refurbishments next year, but as for Piston Peak (replacing Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America) and Villains Land (behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad)? Yeah, those are still pretty far off in the future. However, it looks like there’s a lot happening behind the walls over at Piston Peak, because a WHOLE ton of dirt has been moved around!
