Back in 2019, we learned that Spaceship Earth would close for a lengthy renovation, which would ultimately result in new scenes, updated technology, and a new storyline! (Remember when THAT was the biggest thing we were all worried about? 2022 us is laughing at 2019 us! 🤪)

Obviously, things have changed quite a bit at Disney World since 2019, and this massive refurbishment on one of EPCOT’s most iconic rides has been up in the air for over a year! In 2019, Drury Hotels Company announced the Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista coming to the Disney Springs area! Now, the hotel is nearing completion and reservations are being accepted for later this year!

If you’re heading into the parks this week to enjoy the holiday decorations and festive treats, be prepared for some big crowds during your trip! We’re taking a look at everything that will be closed for refurbishment over this next week so that you don’t get caught off guard during your holiday vacation.

We keep track of the refurbishments schedule and let you know every week what’s going to be closed in the parks and hotels. But now that a new year isn’t too far away (first of all, how did that happen so fast??) we’re taking a look at everything that’s going to be closed in Disney World in 2022. Some of these closures are on the calendar already, and others have just been announced as happening sometime in the year. And some spots on the list have not reopened yet from the Resort’s temporary 2020 closure. It’s a LONG list, so buckle up!
A MAJOR change is coming to airport transportation in Florida! As you may have heard, Disney’s Magical Express service is ending in January 2022. But you won’t be stranded at the airport. There are still options to get you to your hotel, and one of them is a new high-speed train. The Brightline train will take guests from the Orlando International airport to a brand new Disney Springs train station.

The plan is still very much a work in progress and is now expected to open around 2026. While we wait for a progress update, we thought we should talk about how this new train will change Disney World! Will it make things easier? Harder? There’s a lot to consider, so let’s break it down!
