News: Sunday Roast Available at Epcot’s Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room

The Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room in Epcot’s United Kingdom Pavilion is an authentic English pub that just happens to be in Central Florida. And, it’s one of our favorite spots to grab a pint and a bite to eat!

You’ll find a hearty menu full of British favorites including cottage pie, fish and chips, and some of the best pints around. And now a new traditional favorite on the menu – Sunday Roast!

Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room

The Sunday Roast is a traditional British meal featuring roasted meat, potatoes, vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. A few years ago Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs started offering a similar meal – ‘Host the Roast’ – which was created to honor the traditional Sunday Irish lunch.

Review: Battered Banger and Chips at Epcot’s Rose and Crown Pub

The Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room in the World Showcase at Disney World’s Epcot is an authentic English pub dropped into sunny central Florida. And we love it. Like “can-we-move-in?” love it.

For years, Rose and Crown has earned a reputation as a classic World Showcase spot. Diners satisfy their need for English comfort food like fish and chips and cottage pie while enjoying some of the best pints found in the Parks.

But many visitors to Epcot don’t realize that the no-reservations-needed pub here has an incredible (though small) food menu and atmosphere! Plus — Carl the Bartender!

We know, we know. You want in.

Atmosphere

Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room gets high marks from diners for the restaurant’s authenticity, and it all starts with the curb appeal.

In fact, Rose and Crown features architecture from three different centuries on its exterior, which is in keeping with the period architecture found throughout the United Kingdom pavilion.

Our Favorite Epcot Restaurants

We are big fans of Epcot around here, just like you are. It may not be the original Disney World Park, but it holds a charm that few other spots in the Disney universe can. After all, walking around there feels like  you’ve stepped into the dreams of Walt Disney himself. It didn’t start life as the Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow for nothing!

Epcot!!!

Epcot!!!

The park has evolved a bit through the years, but we’re still enchanted by its dual personalities: Future World, celebrating technology and the promise of what’s to come; and World Showcase, which encourages visitors to embrace cultures from around the globe in order to learn from them. Spotted at Epcot’s Rose and Crown: Crabbie’s Cloudy Lemonade

Ready for some beer that doesn’t really seem like beer but is still super awesome? Let’s go to Epcot!

When you’re wandering around this great-for-food-and-beverage-lovers park, you never know what you’re going to come upon. There’s that great value — and surprisingly hidden — Epcot wine walk, the sweet deal of the cheese plate and wine flight at Weinkeller, that killer cronut, and probably lots more that you might never have known about.

One of my favorite not-so-hidden gems here is the Rose and Crown Beer Stand. I say not-so-hidden because there are several times during the day when you will likely have to change your walking path in order to swerve around the line that builds up here. ;-)

Rose and Crown proper is a great pub and restaurant, and we love stopping in for a pint. But if necessary, you can skip the air con and taking a load off in the pub (thank you, toddler) and instead get your drink to go at the Beer Stand.

You’ll find the line (make sure you get into the right one) to the left of the check-in area at the restaurant. The walk-up location serves specialty bottled and draft beers.

Spotted! Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room Merchandise in Epcot’s UK Pavilion

Is the Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room your home away from home while you’re in Disney World? If so, you might enjoy knowing there are a few ways to take a piece of the Pub back home with you!

Rose and Crown

Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room

We’d enjoyed seeing some of the merchandise dedicated specifically to the Rose & Crown during a tour of the Food & Wine Festival Center, but I had no idea how extensive the line was until a recent visit to the Sportsman’s Shoppe in Epcot’s UK Pavilion (just across the path from the pub itself).

How long has it been there? Honestly, I don’t know. It’s been a while since I’d paid a visit to the Sportman’s Shoppe in particular. But it was fun to check out all the goodies dedicated to the place “Where Jolly Good Times Happen on This Side of the Pond,” and we thought fans of the pub might enjoy a glimpse, too!

Disney Food Throw Down: Best Fish and Chips in Walt Disney World

There are some pretty serious debates about where in Walt Disney World you’ll find the best fish and chips. Today, we thought we’d throw a little fuel on that fire by taking a closer look at some of our favorites.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Mention that you’re visiting Walt Disney World and you’re hankering for this traditional British fare, and it’s a sure bet that somebody’s gonna have an opinion. And chances are good that you’ll be told to make a beeline for the UK Pavilion in Epcot.

When you get there, you’ll find two different spots that offer fish and chips. We’ll take a look at Yorkshire County Fish Shop first.

Located just before you cross the bridge into France, Yorkshire is a walk-up window where they keep it simple: you can order fish and chips, a cookie, or your choice of a few beverages.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

And thank goodness for simplicity, because even with it, the lines here can get loooooooonnng. But there’s a really good reason for that…the fish and chips are pretty great.

Fish & Chips

Fish and Chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Because this spot is so busy, the fish is usually pretty fresh. The crunchy batter isn’t too greasy or heavy, and the chips really are more chip-py than french fry-like.

Cross-section of fish

And since it’s counter service, you can score delicious, filling food with no advance dining reservation. We also hear from lots of you that a stop at Yorkshire is a WDW ritual worth keeping during every visit!

BUT — seating can be hard to find on busy days. We’ve enjoyed our Yorkshire fish and chips sitting on a curb or while standing a time or two.

Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room

And that brings us to the next contender: Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room right next door.

Whether you’re just after a pint or you’re looking to enjoy a meal, this traditional British pub is an extremely popular stop. If you’d like to dine here, we strongly recommend you book an advance dining reservation.

Outside of the Rose and Crown

Outside of the Rose and Crown

At Rose and Crown, you can order fish and chips off of the pub menu, or you can order them in the restaurant as well. Size and price vary depending on where you’re enjoying your fix. ;-)

But having them served at a table service restaurant means that you have more choices. With a menu that includes other fish and chip shop standards, like mushy peas, you can round out the meal a bit.

Seating choices include comfy a/c inside, or gorgeous views of World Showcase Lagoon on the patio.

But then, there’s the relatively new kid on the block who has brought some serious fish and chips game. Yep, we’re heading to Downtown Disney for a trip to [Read more…]
