Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has a LOT of fantastic dining options.
For starters, there’s all-you-care-to-eat ‘Ohana, where family-style sides accompany huge skewers of grilled meat. Then there’s Kona Cafe, where plated table service meals — most with an island twist — fill diners’ stomachs. This one also offers a super fun character breakfast! And we can’t forget Tambu Lounge, where you can get not just the iconic Lapu Lapu (served in a pineapple!) but can also now order up favorite ‘Ohana bites like noodles, chicken wings, and (of course) ‘Ohana Bread Pudding. Then there’s Pineapple Lanai, where you can satisfy your craving for all things Dole Whip. Finally, we have two words for you: Twilight Feast (AKA — the most awesome in-room dining option on earth!).
But if you’re not full on swirls of fruit and Pineapple Coconut Bread, there’s a proper quick service option, too: Capt. Cook’s! Located on the lower level of the Great Ceremonial House with an exterior entrance on the Lagoon-side of the Resort and an interior entrance off the lobby en route to Trader Sam’s, Capt. Cook’s serves up a small menu — much smaller than the large food courts at Moderate and Value Resorts — of both Polynesian-inspired eats and American classics.
We’re trying some of each. So put down that skewer of ‘Ohana’s grilled shrimp; it’s time to grab some counter service eats at Capt. Cook’s! [Read more…]

It’s no secret we love Contempo Cafe. Located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World — and just a monorail stop away from the Magic Kingdom — Contempo Cafe is a quick service spot that consistently serves some of our favorite fast eats. We’ve long craved the Pot Roast here, but with flatbreads and burgers and desserts galore, you and your crew can’t go wrong.
On this visit, everything was totally awesome. It makes for some great eating and some fun blogging, if I’m being honest. First up: the Contempo Smokehouse Burger. This beauty (yup, a burger can be beautiful) is an Angus Chuck Burger topped with Smoked Bacon Marmalade, Cheddar Cheese, and a huge Onion Ring. There’s a Brioche Bun holding it all together, too.

Join us as we head to Beach Club Marketplace for late-night bite!
Did you even know that Disney’s Beach Club Resort has a counter service location? Well, if you didn’t, you’re not alone. Actually, if it weren’t for the fact that it’s a Rapid Fill Refilling location, I’m not sure anyone would know that there’s hot food for sale here.
Let’s take a look at this shop and see if it’s worth your time to stop in.
You’ll find Beach Club Marketplace tucked into the side entrance of the Beach Club Resort if you enter from the courtyard located behind the lobby. Sound confusing? Yeah. It is.
If you enter looking for just a restaurant, you’ll quickly find that Beach Club Marketplace serves more than just one purpose, and looks more like a gift shop than anything else. Because that’s basically what it is. [Read more…]

Today we’re visiting a Fantasyland classic… Pinocchio Village Haus Restaurant!
We were here not all that long ago, trying out the recent addition of Pesto Knots to the menu at this joint, which simultaneously features Bavarian architecture and Italian fare. And Pinocchio’s is always a great place to check out — especially in the hot summer months — for their character-inspired frozen Slushes (not to be confused with “Frozen” character slushes… just so we’re clear on that 😉 ).
But it’s been a while since we’ve reviewed a full-on meal here… or three! So, that’s what we’re here to do. Welcome to Pinocchio Village Haus!
Have you ever wondered about the German-style architecture of this restaurant for a story that’s set in Italy?
Pinocchio’s creator, Gepetto, is decidedly Italian, but even the Pinocchio atop of the ordering section reminds me a little of a German oompah figurine.
To learn a little more about this unique style choice, check out this guest review for some insight!
Aside from the architecture, other hallmarks at Pinocchio’s are the gorgeous murals depicting characters and scenes from the film.
True, there are no roses with magically falling petals or indoor thunderstorms a la Be Our Guest Restaurant, but if you really take a look at the artwork (entire rooms and murals are dedicated to specific characters), I think [Read more…]
