And, after many, many months of waiting, we FINALLY have a reopening date for Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon water park! It will reopen to guests on January 2nd, 2022, and when it does, there will be some new things to check out!
There are some days when your resort pool may feel a little crowded, or maybe you’re looking for a little more thrill and the slide at your pool just isn’t cutting it. Well, after a LONG period of closure, we’ve got some EXCITING news for our water park-lovers!

While Blizzard Beach has been open since March 2021, Typhoon Lagoon has remained closed. But now, we finally have an OPENING DATE for Typhoon Lagoon!

We keep track of the refurbishments schedule and let you know every week what’s going to be closed in the parks and hotels. But now that a new year isn’t too far away (first of all, how did that happen so fast??) we’re taking a look at everything that’s going to be closed in Disney World in 2022. Some of these closures are on the calendar already, and others have just been announced as happening sometime in the year. And some spots on the list have not reopened yet from the Resort’s temporary 2020 closure. It’s a LONG list, so buckle up!

It’s a unique anniversary many of us wouldn’t have predicted being faced with just a few years ago, but here we are!

Since then, a lot has changed — health and safety policies have been updated drastically to make face masks optional for most guests and Cast Members in many locations, and most social distancing measurements have also been lifted. For all of the things that HAVE returned to Disney World since the parks reopened, there are also a number of things that have STILL not come back.
Even though it’s been quite some time since Disney World closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still lots of things around the resort that have remained closed.
