Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
And, we’ve got plenty of updates to share with you! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive right on in!
Disney World reopened almost a year ago, and we’ve seen a TON of changes since then!

Welcome back!
Here at DFB, we’re all about the food, and that’s why we’re glad SO many Disney World restaurants have reopened recently! We’ve visited Chef Mickey’s for dinner and the newly reopened Cape May Cafe, but today a fan-favorite restaurant has reopened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
Hello from Disney World!
The potential power outages closed down a LOT of rides this week, but it didn’t seem to mess with the wait times too much! We did see the reopening of the Single Rider Line on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run this week but as of writing, the Single Rider line is still closed for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Expedition Everest, and Test Track.
Remember, there are NOT any Fast Passes in Disney right now, and we have no word on when they’ll be coming back. So, everyyyyone has to wait in the standby line. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the average wait times for all of the rides in Disney World this week!
There are a lot of different options when it comes to dining at Disney World. And, while you could find some adventurous eats or try all the new snacks, sometimes all you really want is a good slice of pizza.
So, where should you turn if you find yourself craving some crispy dough covered in cheese and toppings? Well, not all pizza is created equal — even in Disney World! We’re sharing with you our thoughts on the best places that you can find a slice (or even a pie) during your vacation.
In the mood for some munchin’? We are, too!
Disney World is pretty famous for its creative eats, from Dole Whip concoctions to fun cupcakes to beef fat candles (yup, you heard that right). But what’s a trip to a theme park without some good ol’ POPCORN?
Many things at Disney Parks are returning to pre-closure normals. We’ve seen the end of temperature checks at both Disney World and Disneyland, and we’ve seen both parks end mask requirements for fully-vaccinated guests.

We’re even seeing the return of fireworks to Disney World and Disneyland soon. But there might be one post-closure change that will stick around for a while.
The next few months at Disney World are going to be busy and fun!

Hello, castle!
We’re excited to see the resort begin to gear up for the big 50th-anniversary celebration in October, and we know many people are anticipating the return of fireworks this summer! So much has changed since the beginning of the year!
From our first drop on Tower of Terror to a life-sized Carnosaurus trying to eat us on Dinosaur, Disney has found more ways to freak us out than we would’ve originally expected.
For parents with younger children, traumatizing little ones through the power of Disney magic during a family vacation might not be part of the game plan. They may try to avoid scary-ish rides altogether, sticking with tamer rides that provide “a world of laughter” or “happy little thoughts.” But however hard you might try to protect your child from the darker side of Disney, there are some ride scares you might not be able to avoid — and some you may not have expected to scare younger ones, at all.
Over the last week, we’ve seen some MAJOR changes in Disney World, the most prominent being the change to face masks now being optional for fully vaccinated guests as well as the loosening of physical distancing guidelines.
With physical distancing feeling more and more like a thing of the past in Disney World, we’re starting to see some big updates on our favorite rides and attractions, including the adding BACK of pre-shows. We already saw the pre-show come back to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, but today we’re heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for another pre-show!

Disney World’s 50th anniversary is coming up SOON!
And there is LOTS of look forward to on the special day. October 1st marks the debut of an 18-month celebration, the grand opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris in EPCOT (as well as some new Food and Wine Festival booths!), and new costumes for Mickey and Minnie. As you can imagine, it’s going to be a popular time to visit the parks! And if you’re hoping to join the fun, we’ve got an update you should know about.
