It seems like we’re constantly writing about changes coming to Disney World these days, and top among them are some serious shifts happening in Hollywood Studios.

Not only is the park getting Monstropolis where Muppets Courtyard used to be and a Muppet overlay at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but Animation Courtyard is in the middle of a major overhaul. The area is going back to its animation roots, and Disney just revealed some details about what will be included there. However, the announcement included a controversial decision.
Your park bag is packed, you know your transportation route, and now you’re ready to rope drop your Disney World park for the day. But before you get there, you should know that certain hotels make it easier to do so.

Rope dropping is when you show up before the park even opens and are some of the first to get on attractions. Why do guests do this? Because it’s a great shot at some of the lowest wait times of the entire day and a serious head start over the late sleepers. Doing it at Disney World means waking up EARLY, and once you factor in transportation, it’s probably earlier than you planned. Plus, Disney hotel guests get Early Theme Park Entry, so everyone else is already trying to beat the clock, too. After rope dropping from tons of hotels over the years, we’ve learned one thing: if you want to maximize your morning, skip these hotels and choose smarter swaps to save you time.

While there is construction and changes happening all over the resort, a bunch of the changes happening this week are located inside the parks — specifically EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. Yes, this is indeed the week we’ve been dreading, and it’s here — this week, not only does Festival of the Arts end in EPCOT, but Rafiki’s Planet Watch closes for MONTHS to make way for a new Bluey experience, and we may never see it the same again.
Time is ticking before we have to say goodbye to an iconic Disney World ride for good — well, sort of.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closes on March 2nd, so that Disney can begin transforming it into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. While we’re stoked about the addition of The Muppets to this ride, we can’t help but feel sad that the original version of this ride is going away. We’re keeping up with all the latest changes, and we’ve spotted a new permit ahead of this ride’s permanent closure.
