Over the past 7 months, we’ve seen a lot of huge changes and massive news bombs come out of Disney World, and the wild ride is just beginning! Not everything has fully reopened yet and some things are even taking a step backward in terms of health and safety protocols, so if you’re traveling soon, here are 11 things you need to know about Disney World in August.

We’ve had a chance to eat The Rock’s French Toast and Tequila, Dole Whip Cookies from our grocery store, and some fun Jungle Cruise snacks! And we’re still eating our way around the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival! But we’ve also got some restaurant reopening news and menu updates to share, so let’s get to it!
This week was a bit of a rollercoaster in Disney World!
Disney made several new announcements that ranged from reopenings to policy changes, an opening timeframe for a highly anticipated Disney World hotel, and we even witnessed a bizarre sign malfunction, so let’s go over everything unexpected that happened this week!
Soooo many restaurants have been reopening at Disney World lately!
From the return of fine dining like Citricos to fan-favorite quick service spots like Casey’s Corner, our inner foodie is freaking out! We recently found out that even MORE restaurants will be reopening soon, including Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort! And you can book your reservations RIGHT NOW!
Earlier today, we found out that four more Disney World restaurants are reopening soon!
Columbia Harbour House, Pizzafari, Toledo, and Yachtsman Steakhouse are all reopening the first week of August and we’re excited to visit them once again and share our thoughts. And now, we know what the menus are going to look like at two of those spots!
It may be hard to believe, but it has been a FULL year since the Disney World theme parks reopened following its four-month-long closure in 2020 [when this post was originally published]. It’s a unique anniversary many of us wouldn’t have predicted being faced with just a few years ago, but here we are!
Since then, a lot has changed — health and safety policies have been updated drastically to make face masks optional for most guests and Cast Members in many locations, and most social distancing measurements have also been lifted. For all of the things that HAVE returned to Disney World since the parks reopened, there are also a number of things that have STILL not come back.
Even though it’s been quite some time since Disney World closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still lots of things around the resort that have remained closed.
Between the rides, restaurants, and resorts, there are a lot of locations that have yet to welcome guests again. Here’s a quick look at everything that still hasn’t opened in Disney World.
